Tutorial - Chocolate Bar Slider Tutorial by Andrea

Hello High Hopes Fans!!

We are back this week with another Tutorial Tuesday! :-)
The lovely Andrea has created a tutorial to share with us today.

Before we get to that, if you are looking for our current challenge, click here.

And now here's Andrea...

Thanks for the warm welcome Lacey! Even though most of us are chocolated out for a least a day or two after our Easter celebrations I wanted to share a sweet treat tutorial that I learned years ago from splitcoaststampers which is also a great place to see lots of High Hopes stamped creations!
For this craft you will need the following items:
scissors
strong tape
stamps
6"x7" cardstock
2.5"x6.5" cardstock for bellyband (optional)
inks
colouring mediums
embellishments
scoring tool
paper cutter
slot punch
ribbon (measure by wrapping it lengthwise around your chocolate bar then I added a few more inches to be able to tie a nice knot

Score your cardstock at on 6" side at 2 3/4" and at 5.5"
and score your bellyband at the same dimensions.
I used a border punch to decorate my bellyband.

Stamp front of chocolate bar cover.

Add tape to outside scored 1/2' strip of paper and then turn it over to apply tape to the outside 2 3/4" panel. Remove backing to adhesive and fold wrapper lengthwise and adhere to make pouch. The paper will be bowed slightly when you line up the seams and then pinch the bottom where the other adhesive is to seal the bottom of pouch.

Punch slot in front only of wrapper to allow the ribbon to be threaded through. I punched my slot 2x to allow for the width of my wide ribbon. Slide bellyband onto pouch if you are using one. Thread the ribbon through and make sure it is even on both sides. Take your chocolate bar and place it in between the ribbon strips and push your chocolate bar into the pouch making sure your ribbon is still even on both sides as it moves down the pouch. Once the ribbon is inside tie it into a knot or strong bow.

Finish decorating bellyband as desired. I coloured up Blowin' Buddy Bear and popped it up on the bellyband.

Your crafty treat is now complete!! This would make great party favours, teachers gifts and how about using one of our party invitation stamps and stamping it to the back of the wrapper and use this as a unique party invitation! The possibilities are endless!

Now I am off to enjoy a chocolately treat with my tea. I hope you enjoy making this treat wrapper too!

Before we get to the winner of the last challenge and our new challenge,
I need to "vent"...
This is a High Hopes Challenge Blog - High Hopes is a rubber stamp company.
We created this blog as a place for our fans and customers to participate with fun and creative challenges.
We ask that when you enter the challenges here that you
USE A HIGH HOPES STAMP!
Please do not enter if you do not follow the challenge rules.

Ok, I'm done with my rant...thank you for letting me get that out!
Thank you to our wonderful fans who participate and follow the rules of the challenge!
We want this blog to be about YOU - our customers and fans!

After deleting the links that didn't qualify, the winner of the "For the Boys" Challenge is...
Congratulations, Jo Pegrum!
Please contact me at stampandcreate@bellsouth.net with your mailing address and choice of 3 High Hopes stamps.

Here is Jo's wonderful card using Country Outhouse...
Now, this card is a perfect example of the use of a High Hopes image!!
We LOVE the versatility of our images. We love that they work well with other companies stamps. Therefore, although this card uses non-High Hopes stamps - it DOES use at least one High Hopes stamp, so it qualifies for the prize!!

This week's challenge is being hosted by Kristine. Her challenge is:
Bunnies, Bears, and Balloons!!

Again...you MUST use a High Hopes stamp on your card to be entered into the drawing for 3 free stamps! Non-qualifying entries will be deleted from the links.

The challenge is open for 2 weeks.

3-D image Tutorial by Debby

It's Tutorial Tuesday Time!!

This week we have a fantastic tutorial by the talented Diva Debby.
If you have been a fan of High Hopes for any time now, you have probably seen Debby's awesome 3-D images that she always uses on her cards.
And if you're like me, you probably said "How on earth does she do that?"

Well, we are so lucky today!
Because she is teaching us how to create those fun 3-D images today!!

Here is the finished card so you can see what you are learning about today (using Raggedy's Birthday sentiment and Annie with her Kitty) image...

And now...here's Debby...

1. Colour your images, I’m using Prismacolors pencils but it doesn’t matter if you use marker like Copic or Promarkers.

You need to work out your layers it does help to write them down.

2. The important thing to remember, if you’re layering the skirt or top or even the cat’s body and head, like want I’m doing, You need to add colour to the cats head on the body and a bit of the top on the skirt, like in picture 2. Don’t worry about adding depth of colour to these bits it so white doesn’t show between the layers.

3. Cut them out don’t worry about being good at cutting. I always use a grey pen like a Marvy pen (not Black it’s too harsh) round the edges it hides a multiple of sins.

Then using a Perganmo mat that is used for embossing vellum and a large ball tool I emboss the back of each layer. You could use a foam mat but be careful it’s very soft and the image may collapse into it so very gently.

If you get lines try embossing in different directions.

4. I always colour a whole image and use it for a base. I use a toothpick/cocktail stick to put the silicone glue on. You can use sticky fixers/dimensional but I get a better effect with silicone.

5. I make the card first using the base image as a guide.

6. It really is a matter of putting a blob of the glue where you are going to place your layer.

7. Now this is where things are different. This is the skirt with a bit of the top.

I put silicone on the skirt on the base image and I use Zig glue pen on the skirt layer but on the bit of the top.

8. I place the skirt on the main image and when I feel it’s in the right position, I stick the top flat on the main image.

You can see I’m going to do the same with the top.

9. Same with the cat, silicone glue on the body and zig glue pen on his head and when in position, flatten the head.

The shoes are done very similar too. I used the zig glue pen for the strap so when I layer them the strap won’t be sticking up.

10. Almost there just a blob of silicone for the cats head and some tiny bit of silicone for his bow.

11. A sideways look at the image.

And the finished card...
