Thanks A Melon

Welcome back High Hopes Fans! I hope you are enjoying the first week of summer!
For me, there is nothing better on a super hot, humid day then some sweet, cold watermelon or cantaloupe.

This week's post features "Summer Sweetness" - this cutie sure seems to be enjoying her watermelon doesn't she?! I'm not sure I smile this big when I have some but it sure does help cool me down.

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and cutting it out with a stitching and piercing marks die. I used my Fiskars circle cutter to cut the cardstock circle to back it with. After cutting and scoring my card base, I added patterned paper from MFT and Echo Park. A white gel pen was perfect to add dots to her cute cheeks and hair bows.
Some flowers from Prima and gumdrops were the perfect finishing touches to my card.

Howdy - MichelleO here and I am still having so much fun coloring up my old favorites from High Hopes Stamps! I have so many you know... he he he

This is Norman Goat... love him!

Isn't he adorable??? I colored with my Copics (colors below) I love making Norman pop with lots of color.. background color. I colored heavily making Norman's white fur a bit brighter. I matched up Norman's clothing to pattern papers from Paper Studio's Beach House collection. I sewed the layers down and punched out an EK Success large double border. For my sentiment I used Ya Old Goat... giggle giggle... I punched out the sentiment is punched out with EK Success ticket punch.

Happy 150th Birthday Canada!

Howdy!
Wow Canada is turning 150 years young!! I'm actually what they refer to as a "Centennial baby"  being born in the year Canada turned 100! I'm sure there will be lots of special events on the July 1st long weekend! Off to the Cottage for me and of course we'll be taking in the fireworks! I decided to make a birthday card for Canada!
I made the card base from a Silhouette file and added the High Hopes "Team Canada" stamp in the middle. Of course I had to add the numbers "150" and the Happy is part of the "Happy Birthday Block" sentiment. I love that this image has all our most popular "Canadian animals included on it! Although our Canadian Flag doesn't have glitter, being the girl I am I just couldn't leave it alone and added some Clear Wink of Stella to the red parts.
I used the "Happy Birthday Block" sentiment again on the inside.
Copics Used:
Flag: R24, R27, R29, C1
Beaver: E04, E08, E09, E17, E18
Polar Bear: C1, R901
Moose: E40, E41, E43, E44, E47, E49
Raccoon: W1, W3, W4, W6, W8, W10
Skunk: C5, C7
Shadows: W1, B0000

Summer Banner Using...Ice Cream For Two!

Happy Monday High Hopes Friends!
I have been working over the week on seasonal home decor for my home.
This week I have created a Summer banner using "Ice Cream For Two"

The image was stamped with Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured with alcohol markers. Once the images were coloured I fussy cut it leaving a small white border. I die cut the banner using the scallop border die from Avery Elle. Since I couldn't find the right ribbon for my banner, I dyed a couple of  yards of seam binding ribbon with Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Broken China, and Twisted Citron distress inks.
Copic List; E00 E31 E33 E37 E51 B93 B95 B99 R20 R21 W1 W3 YR07 Y11 Y13

Here is a close up!
I used my Cricut machine to cut the letters. I embellishment the letters with a package of K&Company dimensional stickers and clear rhinestones.
That's all for today hope you have enjoy my fun Summer banner.

Personalized Crafty Case

I have something a little different to share with you today - a way to use your stamps for something other then a card.

I colour primarily with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and a couple of years ago I won this wonderful carrying case for them called a "Crafty Case". It has trays inside for me to put my markers in to take to crops or to a crafty friends place.

Personalizing the case has been on my "to do" list since I got it but between lack of time and intimidation - I mean if I mess it up it's a permanent mess up - I haven't gotten it done ........until now.............

Any examples of personalizing this case have been by painting with acrylic paint. I used to do tole painting so this really wasn't too much of a stretch for me but it was still intimidating as you have to treat the heavy canvas before painting and after.

I decided to hand embroider one of my favourite High Hopes Rubber Stamps images - yup - crazy! I wasn't sure how to get my image on to the case......so I held my breath, grabbed my trusty Memento Tuxedo Black ink and held my breath!

It worked! and I didn't need any drying time in between. All of the stitching is done with a full skein of embroidery floss. If I had it to do over again, I would only use half a skein for the smaller areas - I think that would be my only "tip" for this type of project. Oh and to use a "darning" needle when embroidering on a thick material - a regular sewing needle would have broken with the first couple stitches.

My fingers and thumb may never be the same from poking a needle through this thick canvas so many times and of course there are a few things I would change.....but overall I am happy with my decision and the end result!

I hope you have enjoyed my "Something Different" post. Have a fantastic day!

Thanks a melon!

Tea-Riffic Day

I am having some fun today on my blog with "Tea Angels".

I personally am a coffee drinker - yes I need a support group for that - but I will drink Camomile tea with honey when I'm sick with a cold or sore throat.

These cuties sure remind me of two little girls playing dress up and having a tea party!

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and cutting it out with a stitched oval die and backing with a scallop die cut from matching cardstock.
A fun paper doily was added in the background - I feel like they are having a tea party so a doily is perfect!
The sentiment was stamped with my Misti, cut out and mounted on matching cardstock. Some glittery Stickles on their wings, sparkly ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Clarabelle and Riley - Friends for Heifer!

Howdy - MichelleO here today  -

Friends for Heifer!! Sometimes you just need a hug from that friend that loves you unconditionally. Clarabelle and Riley are just those friends.

Aren't they just too cute? I colored with my Copics (colors below) and then inked the edge with Rangers Distress Ink. I found scrap papers from My Minds Eye in my stash and loved how they all had that country feel to them. So I layered them on a white card stock base and sewed all the layers down with a straight stitch.

My sentiment that is fabulous "Friends for Heifer!" is stamped directly on the pattern paper. With a few enamel dots for embellishments it is all finished off perfectly.

My copic colors used -

Meet "Hannah's Heart"! This little sweetheart is so versatile! Think love, friendship, Valentine's Day, Get well or even for the special little girl!
For this card I decided to use paper from the Carta Bella's Flora No 1 collection! I love all the white space and the scallop stitched border on this card. I added a bit of lilac twine and some tickles for a touch of bling.
On the inside I cut one of the little cards out of the paper collection and added the "Sending Smiles" sentiment.
