Grill Master Birthday

Food off the BBQ is a summer favourite of mine. I am blessed to have more then a few “grill masters” in my life who can cook all the things on the BBQ like burgers, chicken thighs, steak and bacon wrapped sausage to name a few.......and now I am hungry!  Grillin’ Joseph” from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is a grill master himself and has just finished making some sausage – grill marks and all! I think he is perfect for a birthday card for one of the grill masters in my life.

I stamped my image on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I don't have any bbq themed dies or embellishments so I decided I would try making a chef apron with the dies I have.
I started by cutting a wide stitched tag and trimming it to take off the stitching. Next, I measured the space I wanted it to fill on my card and again cut it down to size. It took a few tries, but using an oval die, I positioned it where I wanted the arm cut out to be on the apron and traced around the outside edge. After cutting it with scissors, I flipped it over to the other side to create the second arm hole and added some ribbon to the top where it would wrap around his neck. The only thing I forgot was to add some ribbon for the strings that would tie around his back.....next time <smile>.
Next I cut a square piece of card stock to the size I wanted for a pocket, scored the edges and cut off the corners to get a nice, flat fold. I added the "cook and fire" to the pocket by masking off the Flame Broilin' stamp (a bbqing dragon from High Hopes) and stamped it on the pocket, folded the edges down after inking the edges and glued it down. I hung it off the corner of the card base just for fun.
The large square gingham reminded me of the old picnic table cloths we used to have when I was a kid so I chose one in blue from the Gotta Have Gingham pad from Lawn Fawn and used it for my card base. I inked all of the paper edges with Antique Linen distress ink, stamped and added the sentiment and some twine and enamel dots to finish off the card.

Taking my Copic Sketch markers, I coloured the image to match the designer papers from the Simple Stories "Magical Birthday" collection. I used a Gina Marie "Arched Stitched Tag" die, to cut out my image! I love the font on the HH "Birthday Wishes" sentiment. Some enamel dots and Crystal Stickles on the stars and confetti finish off my card!

Happy March 1st!!
Wow where did February go? ....time sure does fly these days! Today is a New Release "This & That" over at High Hopes Stamps! I can always use Birthday cards in my stash and this cutie is an adorable addition! Meet the cute "Baking Gnome" and "Birthday Wishes" sentiment from the new release.
I started my card by stamping the image onto Copic friendly paper with Memento black ink. My next step is then to pick my papers. I chose papers from the Polka Doodles "Birthday Fun" 6x6 collection.
Taking my Copic markers I coloured in the image. I cut out "Baking Gnome" with a circle die and mounted it onto another circle die, cut from cardstock. Showhorse

Happy Sunday!!

It's the second Sunday of June with our birthday cards theme..
For this card I combined a circus stamp with a fairytale stamp and I really love the outcome!!
I've diecut a square on the front of the card, so you can see the Castle in the background on the inside of the card. I love how the Showhorse stands out on a window frame!!

On the inside I've diecut a grey square and glued the Castle image on top.
For the grass I've diecut some green cardstock with a Stithed Edge die to create hills..
The sentiment Birthday Wishes is inked on a mini Stitched Tag and I've placed it right behind the Show Horse, so you can't see the tag when the card is closed.

Inside card
To make this card, I've used:
*High Hopes Rubber Stamps: Show Horse, Castle, Birthday Wishes
*Bazzill Basics cardstock: white, grey, green
*dies: Stitched Square, Stitched Tag, Stitched Edges (Uniquely Creative)
*other: Copic Papers, Copic Markers, Pergaglue, black ink

Sweet Birthday Wishes

July is a big month for Birthday's in my family. I have more masculine cards then feminine to make for adults and young adults. Masculine cards are always a challenge for me but I think "Sweet Thing" is perfect for one of my younger card recipients.

After colouring up this fun ant with his huge cupcake with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I found a paper combination from YNS and Lawn Fawn that I liked and put my design together. The sentiment was stamped and cut with a fishtail banner die. I added a piece of matching fish tail flag banner to add a fun element. Lastly I added the stamped and coloured image using foam pop dots.
Some simple gumdrops finish off my card. Here's hoping one of my nephews enjoys their Birthday card.

Birthday wishes

Happy Sunday!

Time for another birthday card. Where did all those cards go? Well, I don't mind making new ones ;)
Here's one for my sister who is singing in a choir. She is going to love this card!!
I've used the cute Singing Katrina and the Birthday Wishes sentiment.

Dessinpapers are from my stash (really, really old ones, I can't even tell wich company).
Together with the purple cardstock from Bazzill to go along.
I made the flowers from a Marianne Design die and added some purple pearls in the centre.
