Sick Bird

Howdy - MichelleO here today - You we always need those Get Well Cards for loved ones... I like cards that make you smile a bit with that get well wish. High Hopes Stamps has some fabulous images and they have opened up the Get Well Retirement Vault of some of those favorites! Me, I chose to color up Sick Bird... poor little guy seems to have a cold.

I colored Sick Bird with my copics (colors below) and then cut out with a circle die cut. Making sure to cut out the leaves to hang out of the circle. For my pattern paper I found an old piece of Heidi Swapp Paper... those pretty little clouds are felted! OH my I love them! I sewed the paper on to a white card stock mat with a zig zag stitch. Then placed it all on a pretty dusty blue card stock base. The sentiment is perfect for our little guy. High Hopes Stamps "Under the Weather" I love how sweet this one came out!

Copic colors used -

Now hurry over to see all the image that are now available at the High Hopes Stamps web site HERE and directly to the vault HERE

Simple De-Vine!

I don't usually make a lot of cards for Valentine's Day but when I saw the "Simply De-Vine!" sentiment from High Hopes Rubber Stamps I decided to challenge myself to find a way to use this sentiment for a non-traditional Valentine.

I decided "Mike On A Vine" and the "Branch" also from High Hopes, went together perfectly with the sentiment and fit my non-traditional theme.
Mike is adorable and could be used for a number of different card themes.

After stamping Mike and the branch Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I coloured them with Copic markers. I hand fussy cut them - I actually broke my scissors! - and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed.
After setting them aside, I got my baby blue ink, dauber and cloud die and formed my cloud background.
I cut a piece of white card stock to size and used a circle die to cut the space for the clouds. Thankful for my Misti as I placed and stamped the sentiment directly on to the card. After cutting the cloud paper to fit the circle I glued Mike and the branch down and added some enamel dots to finish off my card.

Gopher Nurse

I don't know about you but when I am not feeling well I have a favourite blanket I like to snuggle in under and although I drink coffee I set it aside for a cup of tea. The blanket is one my mom made for me and I think it is the extra love in the stitches that always helps me feel better.

I tried to get the feeling of being wrapped in a blanket with the patterned paper on my card and the oh so adorable "Gopher Tea Nurse" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and her tea cup reminded me of the tea. This stamp (along with some of her other adorable friends - you can see them here) has been brought out the High Hopes Retirement Vault to help bring smiles and get well wishes.

After stamping and colouring the stamp with Copic markers I hand fussy cut her. I decided on the 4"x5" card base and chose some flowered patterned paper from Kaisercraft that reminded me of the quilts we used to wrap ourselves in when we sick as kids. The card design is based loosely on some cards I saw a long time ago when I was googling sketches that stuck with me.

I cut the paper and then used a scalloped edger die to create the "blanket" edges.  They are over lapped slightly under the stamp. Next I added a piece of water color paper from MFT behind it. Using a circle die I cut a circle and added some stitches to it with a stitch die and cut a matching piece of the flowered paper for the inside. Next I glued down the stamped image and added some ribbon to finish off my card.

Card Recipe

Stamp: Gopher Tea Nurse - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Patterned Paper - Misty Mountains - Kaisercraft, Water Colour - MFT

Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Hammermill 100lb digital cover stock, ribbon, scallop edger die - Kat Scrapiness, circle die - Spellbinders, stitches die - YNS

Not Horsin' Round

It's Wednesday, and this week, I'm sharing another Valentine's card I made using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Horsin' Around Horsey - P130. This little horse and his little friend are trotting by to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day.

To make my CAS card today, I used The Paper Studio - Primary Base Colours 4.25" x 5.5". I die cut the 2 background hearts papers from Martha Stewart Crafts - Enchanted Woodland, using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Dies. I die cut Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using My Creative Time - Scalloped Stitched Oval Dies. The image was stamped onto the die cut using my Misti and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured in the image using Copic Markers. Then I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Festive Berries to ink around the edges of all of the die cuts.

To assemble the card, double-sided tape was used to adhere the first layer directly to the card base. 3M VHB - 2 sided tape was added to the backs of the coloured image and second layer of pattened paper and then they were added to the base. To complete the card, I added 3 hearts from Buttons Galore & More - Heartfelt Shimmerz Embellishments.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Horsin' Around Horsey - P130 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Festive Berries

Sick Ollie!

Hi!
Poor "Sick Ollie" from High Hopes .... he's feeling a bit under the weather. Ollie is all snuggled in his favourite blanket and tissues are nearby! I hope he feels better soon!
I reorganized my craft room last week and found a bunch of my embossing folders in a drawer. You know the old "out of sight, out of mind" saying. I promised myself the next card I made, I would use one. I thought this heart folder was perfect for Ollie as I am not only sending get well wishes but love as well. I stamped my image onto Copic friendly paper and coloured it in with my Copic Markers. Next using a Gina Marie Double Roped die, I cut out Ollie. I love the clean and simple design of this card. The Sentiment is also from High Hopes and is called "Get Well Soon 2". Just a hint of blue cardstock, some white polka dots and Stickles on the tissues finish off my card today
Copics Used:
Giraffe: YR23, YR24, YR27, E35, E37, W4, W5, W7
Blanket: B24, B26, B28, B39, white gel pen
Tissues & Box: B60, B63/ R29, Y35, Y38, B28
