Mother's Day Fairy

Anyone else see a stamp they just have to have because it is so versatile and can be used for soooo many different occasions?

That is how I felt when I saw the "Fairy On A Leaf" stamp in the new "This & That" release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I think she will be perfect for Birthday, Thinking of You and Just Because cards and more but I have chosen to use her on a Mother's Day card this time. How sweet is this little fairy?!!

I stamped this sweet fairy on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured her with Copic markers. I cut her out with a square die and used a corner punch to round the corners to help soften the feel of the card.

I love hand fussy cutting my stamps and this card is no exception....except there is a twist. After I cut the stamp using a square die, I laid a circle die over top of the image (I chose one slightly smaller then the image) and lightly traced the inside of the circle with a pencil. I cut a small hole into each section to get started, then cut around the inside of the pencil line and around the outside of the image leaving a small white edge and mounted it on matching card stock. This leaves some of the stamp edges on the outside of the circle instead of completely cutting the whole stamp.

Next I cut patterned paper from Honey Bee and Lawn Fawn and mounted them on card stock to fit the 5.5"x 5.5" card base, glued them down and added the stamped image. For a bit of interest I cut a thin square to put behind the stamp. Some cotton lace ribbon, a stamped sentiment and enamel dots finish off the card.

Baked With Love

I have a large number of people in my life who love to bake. I don't mind it once and awhile but it isn't my "thing" like it is for some people. The bonus in my world is when I get to be the taste tester of baking experiments even if they don't turn out perfect <wink>. They all say there is a secret ingredient in their baking....won't tell me what of course.......but I think there is a smidge of love in whatever they make.

Add to that some of these same people love gnomes and the new "Baking Gnome" from High Hopes is perfect for making cards for them. I have a number of occasion cards rolling around in my brain for this stamp.......it's just getting the time to get them out of my brain and made! <smile>

After stamping on to alcohol marker friendly paper, I fussy cut him and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I set him aside and found patterned paper from MFT and Lawn Fawn and cut them to fit my A2 size card base.
A stitched tag was the perfect backdrop for this adorable chef so I cut two out of white and red card stock, layered them and added the stamp with foam pop dots. I stamped the sentiment and added it to matching card stock. A die cut spoon and whisk, a bow and some die cut hearts finish off my card.

Spring In The Air

I don't know about anyone else but I am ready for spring! As I type this, we are yet again cleaning up from some unexpected winter weather - snow, cold, and blowing snow that reduced visibility so bad they had to close the roads. Earlier in the week we had a couple days of above zero temperatures, blues skies and gorgeous sun.

Yes, I am ready for spring....maybe not the mud .... but I am ready for sun and blue skies and that is what inspired my card. The new "Spring Pond" stamp from the This & That new release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps was the perfect backdrop for my spring scene that also includes the previously released "Waddles" and her adorable little ones. It is a beauty of a day for a spring walk.....I wonder if they will pop in for a swim too......

I stamped both stamps on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured them with Copic markers. I hand fussy cut both stamps leaving a thin white edge around the ducks and set them aside. The Waddles stamp has a cattail and butterfly on it as well but I just wanted to use the ducks for this card.
I found some patterned paper from Craft Consortium that I thought worked well with the scene I wanted to create. I cut the patterned paper pieces to size and then used some of the pieces I cut off to cut out some grass with a die and added them into my scene. I added Waddles using foam pop dots to add some dimension.
I stamped and cut my sentiment to size and added some stitched puffy clouds, twine and enamel dots to finish off my card.

A Little Behind

I am notorious for being behind in sending and giving Birthday cards. It has always been a weakness of mine, however this year I am going to try to get better at it, and I may just have a back up plan.

When the "Turtle Peak" stamp and the new sentiments came across my desk from the new "This & That" release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps my creative brain went in to overdrive!

This stamp paired with two new sentiments from this release are perfect to make belated cards with .......since I know I will probably be late giving them <smile>. Not only does this stamp make me smile but it is also perfect to go with a few other sentiments I have in my stash. I love when a stamp is versatile and can be used for many different occasions.

Inside of Card

I stamped this cutie on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured it with my Copic markers. Next I hand fussy cut him and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I sent him aside, grabbed the Gather At Home patterned paper pad from Carta Bella, chose my papers and cut them to fit my design and card base. I cut an extra circle out of white card stock to put behind him to help him stand out and added the stamp using foam pop dots.

I added a few flowers, enamel dots and a sentiment to finish off the front of the card.  I usually leave the inside of my cards blank, but the belated Birthday stamp was perfect for the inside. I stamped it, cut it out and glued it down to some matching patterned paper and card stock.

Card Recipe

Stamp: Turtle Peak (SLF033) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Chick-en In

When I was younger my Grandpa had a farm which included a barn full of chickens. I can't say it was my favourite place on the farm - it was soooo noisy! but helping with chores meant we got some fresh eggs to take home - yummy!

The "Chicken Flock" stamp from the new "This & That" release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps brings back some fond memories of helping my Grandpa and Dad with the chores. It also brought out the giggles in me. While I was colouring this stamp I had to stop numerous times because I had quite a few giggle fits. This flock of chickens matched with the new "Just Chick-en In" sentiment helped me create a fun card that I can send someone to "check in" with them and hopefully bring a smile.

I stamped this hilarious flock of chickens on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured it with Copic markers. Next I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I had some patterned paper from an old Stampin' Up pad that I thought went will with my "farm and chicken" theme. After cutting the paper to fit my A2 size card base, I cut out an oval in the middle of the paper so the card stock would show through and it gave me an egg shape on the card. Next I stamped my sentiment, mounted it on matching card stock and added it to the twine I put across the bottom. Some die cut corners and glitter dots finish off my card.

A New Adventure

I have a little man in my life who makes me smile and keeps me young! I met him a couple days after he was born and this adorable, strong little man is growing fast. He is a typical boy - loves anything with wheels, biking and jumping on the trampoline. I do have to admit he is a little hard to keep up with <wink>

Fire Truck from the vault opening and the "Mix It Up" release at High Hopes reminds me of this little guy because ... well.....it has wheels! The New Adventure sentiment reminds me of him because I don't know how, but in September he is old enough to start school! Not sure how the little's in our lives always grow so fast. This card was made for him for his first day of school as his new adventure begins....

After stamping the fire truck I coloured it with Copic Markers, hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. After setting him aside I chose some patterned paper from a Christmas Photo Play pad and matching card stock. Next I found some lighter grey card stock in my scrap pieces bin and cut it to fit my card base.
I created the "fire station" by inking up a brick stencil with London Fog Memento ink and cut the doors out using a square die. To add some texture to the doors, I used my score board to add some lines to them. I printed the Fire Station #2 from my computer, stamped the sentiment and cut it to size.
The fire station sign, sentiment and fire truck are added with 3D foam pop dots to add some dimension. Twine and enamel dots finish off my card.
