You Know You're Old When....

One of my Dad's favourite sayings is "My memory is good...it's just short!". As kids growing up we thought it was funny and it always made us giggle. However, as I am getting older, I am finding more and more truth in that statement and I find myself saying it quite often!

When I saw the "Memory" sentiment and "Online Olive" stamps from High Hopes Rubber Stamps it reminded me of this saying and how true it is the older I get. I find myself having to make lists either on paper, my phone, or computer to try not to forget things....until I forget which way I wrote the note and where...<smile>. I chose to use this stamp combo for a humourous Birthday card because I can't have enough humourous cards in my stash.

I stamped Olive, coloured her and her cat friend with Copic markers and cut her out using a square pleated lace die. I chose patterned paper from Carta Bella and cut it to fit my 5.5"x5.5" card base. Bazzill came through with the perfect matching card stock and I cut a layer to fit behind each piece of patterned paper and the stamp.

Next, I stamped the Memory sentiment and masked off the Happy Birthday from the Swinging Birthday sentiment. They were cut to size and mounted on matching card stock. Some cotton lace ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Online Olive

Howdy - MichelleO here and to save too much talk.. we will just say this sentiment and image from High Hopes Stamps is a little close to home... sigh... insert rolling eyes here. LOL

Freezing cold then suddenly flames of heat! Not fun. This card did give me a chuckle. My look alike image is "Online Olive" and she was fun to color! I used my Copics (colors below) and then used a little Nuvo sparkle on the steam from the cup and the smoke from the computer. Scrap papers with a bit of shine to them give a little more life. All the layers are sewn down with dots of Nuvo black for embellishment. That sentiment is just a scream. "I don't have hot flashes, I have power surges!"

I know you have friends that would get a kick out of this card... right? LOL

Online Olive

Hot Flashes??

Today's card show cases "Online Olive". I absolutely love this sentiment called "Hot Flashes". After all they aren't hot flashes they are power surges! LOL!! I love how the computer monitor and tower are "surging"! I can totally relate with Olive and she makes such a cute card to send to your friends!

This is one of my favourite layouts to do with the rectangles on a tilt. I used papers from the Jellybean Soup Summer Red Raspberry Soup 6x6 collection. I dug through my big jar of buttons and found these 3 to add as embellishments. A little bit of twine add to them finished them off perfectly!
