Pawsing To Say

When we moved in to our house we had a neighbour up the street who used to feed the birds. Every summer he would put up a plank that was on a tree at one end and had legs to support the other end. There were multiple bird feeders and multiple different species of birds that came to visit each day. The most comical thing to watch was the squirrels who used it not only as a buffet but as a jungle gym - so funny to watch them run around and chase each other and some even fell off.

We also had a lot of stray cats in the neighbourhood and there was always one or two that I watched climb up to inspect what the plank had to offer. The cats would often play like the squirrels and all I could do was laugh.

When I saw the "Kitty By Birdhouses" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps, all these fun memories came flooding back and I decided this stamp is perfect for a birthday card for one of my feline loving friends.

I started my card by stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, colouring it with Copic markers and hand fussy cutting it leaving a thin white edge. To create my card base, I cut some striped and flowered patterned papers from Lawn Fawn and added them to matching card stock. After cutting a circle out of the blue paper, I masked off the sentiment, "coaxed" into an arch, stamped it on the edge of the circle and then put the circle on matching card stock.
I added a small piece of striped paper on top of the flowered paper, glued down the circle and tucked the birthday sentiment up against it after I cut off the bottom of the circle. I glued down the stamp, added a bow and flower and finished off the card with enamel dots.

All your dreams!!

 Happy Wednesday HH Fans!

I've been watching a little too much news lately & it has started to make me feel pretty sad.  So I need to colour something that gave me a pick me up.

This adorable little image called Lil' Entertainer did just that.  I know there are a lot of little girls/boyss out there who dream of one day becoming a dancer BUT there are those little girls/boys that just wanna' have fun.  No matter why they like to dance I thought this little cutie was perfect inspiration for them.

I went totally out of my go to colours for this card.  I'm not so much into pink or peach but this paper from Bo Bunny gave me the idea for the colour combos.  In the left hand corner of the paper it says "Never regret" "Live your dream" so I made sure not to cut that part off when I was trimming up the paper.

Copic Colours
Peach - YR02, YR01, YR000
Pink - R22, R21, R20
Skin - E000, E00, E01, E04

No Waves!

 Happy Tuesday!
This cutie called "Surfing Gabriel" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps, fits the June theme of Summer perfectly! He's catching waves and hanging ten LOL! The sentiment "No Waves" goes perfectly with this image! I tried surfing when we visited Hawaii and let me tell you it's no easy feat. I never did catch a wave or even get standing on the board. I just wasn't coordinated enough lol! Made for a good "blooper" real! Hubby on the other hand did just fine!(argggg lol).
I started my card by stamping Gabriel onto some Copic friendly paper and coloured him in using my Copic Sketch markers. Next using a MFT Stitched Tag die, I cut out the image. I chose papers from the Echo Park "I Love Summer" 6x6 collection. Using a wave die I cut out some waves and added then in layers with foam tape. I took some white craft paint and painted the tips to give it a white cap look. A few enamel dots finish off my card.

I found some papers from DCWV Songbirds collection. Love the fun patterns and they worked well with our Butterfly Guy!  He is colored with my Copics (colors below) and then sewed down my pattern papers.  Love how the sewing matches the pattern in the papers.

Good morning & happy Saturday HH fans!

It's been a minute since my last post here on the blog.  I finally got a chance to sit and have some colour therapy.

Originally I was going to make this a Father's Day card.  But I changed my mind at the last minute & thought my Dad would get a kick out of this for his birthday.

I used Surf Scene Dudley & a simple Happy Birthday for the sentiment.

Let's Ride

Where I live, when the snow is gone, the street cleaners have cleaned the sand off the roads and the first sunny day hits with dry roads the motorcycles come out. I personally don't enjoy riding motorcycles but hubby and I have a few friends who do.

They find a freedom in riding a motorcycle and can be gone for hours especially when the sunny days of summer hit. "Harley" is perfect for a card for one of them and I will include a birthday sentiment inside before I give it to one of our friends.

I stamped on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured my stamp with Copic markers and hand fussy cut it. I set the stamp aside and cut a white piece of cardstock to fit my 5"x 5" card base. It took three tries to get it straight .... but I masked and stamped the sentiment in a stacked style in the bottom right corner.
Next, I took a blending brush and added some Bashful Blue ink to the centre of the card stock.
I mounted the white card stock on a piece of black card stock to "frame" the card and glued the stamp down. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Summer Sailing!

 Ahoy!
Today's card is perfect for the Summer June theme over at High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I am using "Andy and Patch", "Summer Sail Boat" and the sentiment called "Ahoy". Sailing is a summer sport here where I live. It's so peaceful watching the sailboats gracefully glide across the water.
I'm using papers today from the Doodlebug "Bar-b-cute" 6x6 collection. I stamped the images onto Copic friendly paper and coloured them in to match the papers. I cut the main image out with a MFT Stitched Square die. The Sailboats are cut out using my Brother Cut N scan. Some ribbon and a few enamel dots finish off my card design.
Here you can see that I popped up the MFT "peek-a-boo Trio" die cut with some foam tape as well as the boats for added dimension. A bit of glitter pen was added to the sun's but it's hard to see in the picture.

Dad's Catch

Howdy - MichelleO here today - I am always on the look out for fun guy fishing images. They are just too perfect for the men in my life. I love this image from High Hopes Stamps- Dad's Catch

I think it is the goofy grin and pride with that tiny little fish. ha! Colored with my Copics (colors below) I went with colors to match up with the My Minds Eye Kraft Card stock "Life Stories" papers.  Everything is layered together and then stitched with a zig zag and straight stitch. Was at first concerned about how the white thread was bright and popped off the kraft card stock, but then decided to go with it! And add some Nuvo white paint pen dots!

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps - "World's Greatest Fisherman" great image for me to give this card to Hubby :0)

Now I thought the card was finished... but that fishy and water was just screaming for some sparkle to make them look wet - love sparkle!

Hope you enjoyed my card - now pop over to the High Hopes Stamps Web Store HERE and see all the fabulous images to play with!

Chilaxin'

I don't live near a beach and I don't have a pool but on a really hot, humid summer day I wish I did. Chopper seems to have found a cool spot and drink to chilax on a beautiful summer day with this card featuring "Choppers Chilaxin'" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I don't know who makes me giggle more.....Chopper or Milton.......

I stamped Chopper on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured him with Copic markers. I stamped him on masking paper, cut him out and added some distress ink to create my water and used a wavy stencil to add some waves. I set that aside and found some paper from Echo Park to create my card base to fit the 5" x 5" size. I added some twine and edged the paper with Ground Espresso Distress ink. Next, I cut around the water and Chopper leaving a thin white line at the top. I glued that down the matching card stock and cut a thin line around the top and edged it with Ground Espresso.
The sentiment was a challenge but I masked off the words from two different sentiments to create this one. This took three tries and a lot of patience and holding my breath. To finish off the card I added a die cut sun popped up with a pop dot and enamel dots.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Tuesday!
At our Cottage, there are lots of people with boats that tow their family and friends behind them. "Tubing Bob" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps reminds me of the fun you can have on the water. It is so fun to watch the kids having fun, yells of joy and the odd splash overturn. It makes me feel young to watch them and brings back memories of my childhood at the Cottage. Since this weekend is Father's Day, I thought the HH sentiment "Happy Father's Day" was perfect for this card!
I started my card by picking papers from the Echo Park's Summer Party 6x6 collection. After stamping the image onto Copic friendly paper, I coloured the image in to match using my Copic Sketch markers.  I used a CDD Inside Scallop Square die to cut out the image, and the scalloped frame. Next I decided to use a Wink of Stella glitter pen to add some glimmer to the waves and water droplets. A few enamel dots finish off my card!

This card is so fun for a the guy in your life that loves to have fun in the water. I colored with my Copics (colors below) and then found some fun scraps from Making Memories. Pawsing To Say

At the beginning of the year I set a personal challenge - to do one birthday card a month. I haven't met that challenge the last couple of months but this weeks card is going to change that....for this month anyway.

I have a nephew when we go away for a holiday. Our nephew moves in for the time we are gone and spoils my dog rotten - my dog loves him!!! This year for his birthday card I decided to do an acetate front card featuring "Orian and Whiskey" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and when I give it to him it will be signed from my dog just for fun.

After stamping this fun pair on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut them leaving a thin white line.....except for the parts that touch the ground. To create my card base I cut a 5" x 5" base and then trimmed an inch of the bottom of the card front and 3/4" off the top. I set my base aside and found a piece of acetate, cut it to size and added it to the front of the card to create the window.
Next I cut die cut a landscape, grass and a fence to create my scene and glued them down to the acetate.
Patterned paper from two different Echo Park paper pads were perfect and I added the clouds to the base inside.
After taking my beloved Misti out of the drawer, I masked off and stamped the first sentiment and then masked off the second one, held my breath and hoped things would work out. Some matte dots finish off my card.

Stamp Recipe

Picnic Time!

 Hello!
The June theme over at High Hopes Rubber Stamps  this month is Summer! Nothing says summer more than a picnic!  I haven't been on a picnic for a very long time, but I am going to remedy that this summer for sure! Looks like "Ant's Picnic"  is having some fun! That hotdog should keep them fed for a while LOL.
I started my card by stamping the image onto some Copic friendly paper. I coloured the image in with my Copic Sketch markers to match the papers in the Doodlebug "Bar-b-cute" 6x6 collection. I cut the coloured image out using a Gina Marie Double Roped square die and popped it up with some foam tape for added dimension. The "Picnic Time" sentiment and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Diver Dan

Howdy - MichelleO here today - Are you ready for Summer? Diver Dan is! This guy cracks me up. High Hopes Stamps image that is perfect for that active guy birthday card!

Decided to go with a circle theme... colored up Diver Dan with my Copics (colors below) and then die cut him in a circle, with a mat in a darker shade. Found some older Making Memories papers in my stash that have fun gold circles and went with it! I sewed down the papers with a zig zag stitch, for some texture.

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps - "dive right in!" This sentiment is my favorite with this image. I sewed it down on layers of matching pattern papers.

For some water and bubble sparkle I added some Nuvo glitter paint pen - gotta have some sparkling water right?

Copic colors used -

Sandy Toes

We have had some summer weather this week. It has been H.O.T! It is only fitting that the High Hopes design team will be sharing summer themed cards this month since some how it is all of a sudden summer.

I don't live close to a beach but if I did I would probably be at it in this kind of weather. I can't physically go to the beach........but I can create a card with a beach theme and take Milton to the beach. Milton is one of my favourite High Hopes animals.......he is always up to something and makes me laugh. Today he is looking fine in his beach attire....meet "Milton At The Beach".

I stamped Milton on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him. Then I cut a piece of white card stock to fit my card base and cut an oval out close to the centre with a die. Next, I cut out the same size oval in a light yellow card stock to build my "beach" scene. I cut some beige and blue card stock for my sand and water and added some ink to add some definition to them. I also added white acrylic paint to the "waves" using a small amount on my finger and dabbing it on to the ink. The sun rays were added in the background using a stencil and I hand drew some birds in the sky.

I cut the palm trees and island using a Sizzix die and cut it again in green to make the grass and tree leaves. The green card stock was edged with Distress ink to help it stand out a bit. I added the oval to the white card stock after running a black marker around the edge to help it stand out. Sea shells edged with ink were added to the sand to help finish my beach scene and Milton was added to the side of the oval. The sentiment was a bit of a trick, but with some creative masking and stamping, I was able to split it up at the top and bottom. Sparkly glitter dots finish off my card.
