Wee Three Kings

We are continuing with the Christmas in July theme over at High Hopes and this week I have stepped out of my comfort zone when it comes to the shape of my card. Most of the cards I make are 5.5" x 5.5" square and the odd time I slip an A2 in there just for fun but this week I have chosen to do a slim line style card.

What got me "going there" was... I saw this die on a local company's website and it was a have to have it kind of thing....I'm sure that doesn't happen to anyone else right?!? <wink> I love the "Wee Three Kings" stamp from High Hopes and I knew that it would be a perfect fit for this die set.

I stamped this adorable stamp on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured it with Copic markers. I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin edge that was coloured to match the sand as close as I could. This die is quite large so I didn't have patterned paper to fit (most of my paper is 6x6) so what is a gal to do but create her own paper.

I started by getting a piece of water color paper and my inks. After playing around with the inks for a bit I found a combination that worked for the ideas I had in my head. After inking the background I spritzed it with water, white acrylic paint (watered down) and added a few stars with a white gel pen. I wasn't overly happy with these stars so I added some Nuvo drops to the centre of them for an added touch of bling. To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment directly on to the paper and added a sparkly Bethlehem star.

Holy Night

Over the next few days, the High Hopes design team will be sharing a sneak peek from the Christmas Cheer release. The stamp featured will be available the day it is posted and the full release will be available September 7th - fun right?!

For today's sneak peek I decided to challenge myself to do a CAS (clean and simple) style card featuring 3 Wisemen. I find this style very challenging because I usually like to include a few patterned papers and maybe some die cuts on my cards. This style forces me to sit on my hands and not keep adding to the design.

These adorable wisemen were stamped, coloured with Copic markers and hand fussy cut. Originally I had made an ink blended background but I ended up changing design direction and had already cut the background .....the wrong size for the direction I ended up going. Thankfully, I had some patterned paper from a Recollections pad that mimicked a subtle starry sky as back up.

My next challenge was that I didn't have a star that was the look I wanted. So, what is a gal to do?! I grabbed a star dangle stencil I have in my stash and got to work. I turned my white glitter paper over, chose the star size I wanted and traced it out. Next, I found a slightly smaller star to go over top that gave me the smaller peeks, hand drew the tail and cut it out with scissors. To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment directly on to the base and glued everything down.

Three Kings

Hi Friends,
Today I have a fun Christmas card using a couple images from High Hopes Stamps!

To make my card I stamped "Three Kings"
with Memento black ink and colored using alcohol markers. After coloring I die cut my image using a square stitched die stackable. The Christmas paper I'm using was a gift from a friend so not sure what is the collection named. I added white gel to highlights my image also some diamond stickles. After my main panel was die cut it and decorated I adhesive with foam tape to give the perfect dimension.

To finish, I stamped "Oh Holy Night" and layered with a piece of light green cardstock. Also added a few gold sequins and this adorable star die from my stash. I hope you enjoyed this Christmas card.

Thank you for visit my blog today!
Have a BLESS day.
