Pumpkin Patch

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

TGIF!!!  As summer nears the end, the air starts to feel a bit more crisp and harvest season is near.  I am excited to share another fall card with you today.
 Jane

This is Pumpkin Patch (S152).  I just love the country appeal this stamp has!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the main image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the lettering of the sign and on the crow's beak and heart.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Always Artichoke cardstock and the layering piece is SU Kraft cardstock.  The designer paper is from Simple Stories-Take A Hike 6x6 Paper Pad.  A sponge dauber with a SU Chocolate Chip Ink Pad was used to sponge ink around the edge of the image and layering piece, to give the card a more country/rustic look.  Foam tape was applied to the main image to help make it pop out a bit and add some dimension.  To complete this card, some strips of twine with a bow was added, along with a few sparkling clear sequins.

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image and background (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the main image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on Buddy's nose.  Once this had dried, I proceeded to die cut the image using a MFT Stitched Circle Die.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Chocolate Chip cardstock and the layering piece is SU Kraft cardstock.  The designer paper is from Doodlebug - Friendly Forest 6x6 Paper Pad for both the background and fishtail flag die cuts.  Foam tape was applied to the main image to help make it pop out a bit and add some dimension to this card. A piece of twine was tied in a bow and placed above the image.  The sentiment was stamped with versamark ink, and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Foam tape was also used to adhere the sentiment to the card.  To complete this card, three small YNS Gumdrops were added around the circle die cut.   Hope this inspires you to start on some fall projects!

Happy Harvest

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

For this month, the talented Design Team is sharing projects made with Fall/Halloween stamps. So here is my card using some of these super adorable High Hopes images...
 Jane

This is Harvest Harry (S032), Crow from We're All Ears (K034) and Happy Harvest Sign.  What an adorable scarecrow and crow!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image and background (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the main image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the crow's beak.  Once this was all dry, I proceeded to fussy cut out the crow and sign.  The main image was die cut using a MFT - Cross Stitch Rectangle die.  The background clouds were created using a scalloped oval punch template and some Adirondack Aqua ink pad with sponge dauber.  I just moved the punched piece randomly around and sponged the ink in an upward motion.

For the card base and main image layering, I decided on a piece of SU Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The designer paper is from Bo Bunny-Heritage Collection 6x6 Paper Pad.  To create the cornstalks, a MFT die called Cornstalk was used with SU Always Artichoke cardstock.  A Versamagic dewdrop - wheat, was lightly brushed over the tip of the cornstalks to create a more realistic tassle on the corn.  To adhere the crow, sign and cornstalks, foam tape was applied to help make them pop out a bit and add some dimension to my card.

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

Well Christmas in July has been a fun one, but has gone by too fast as usual!

For my final Christmas card post for this month, I am excited to share this cute image with you...
 Jane

This is Oops Oliver Bear (S050) and Winter Wonderland Background (U013).  Such an adorable and fun image!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image and background (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the main image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on Oliver's nose and skate blades.  Once this was all dry, I proceeded to fussy cut out the main image. The background was coloured using Distress Ink Pads with the ink blending tool applicator for the sky and ice pond.  Frosted Lace Stickles were applied to the background on the snowflakes, trees and snow hill to add some sparkle.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Real Red cardstock.  To adhere Oliver on the card, foam tape was applied to help make him pop out a bit.  To complete this card, a piece of Doodlebug Twine was tied in a bow near the top of the card.

Mudzies Gift

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

It's Christmas in July!  I sure hope Santa dresses lightly, if he plans on coming this way any time soon!  The heat is definitely on and it's way too dry here...

For today's post, I have a super fun image to share with you!  I hope this makes you chuckle a little.
 Jane

This is Mudzies Gift (T030) and Sm. Christmas Script sentiment (F051).  Such a cute image and definitely a fun one to colour too!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the ribbon, bow and power outlet. Also, various colours of Stickles (see supplies listed below for actual colours used) were applied on the string of Christmas lights to add a bit of sparkle.  Once this was all dry, I proceeded to fussy cut out the image.  This was a bit challenging around some of the fine detail.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The designer papers are from Carta Bella-Warm & Cozy 6x6 paper pad and SU Merry Moments 6x6 paper pad.  I wanted to create a living room type of scene at Christmas.  So I thought, the hardwood flooring, base board trim and wallpaper idea looked perfect!  To adhere Mudzie on the card, only the top two-thirds of him had foam tape applied to the back, and the bottom third (legs) and power outlet had glue dots applied.  This helps make him pop out a bit, but still look realistic as he is sitting on the floor.

The banner for the sentiment was die cut using a YNS die called Cool Tag Three.  I stamped the Merry Christmas script with a versamark ink pad and SU Early Espresso Embossing Powder was applied then heated.

Supplies Used:

Paper - Carta Bella-Warm & Cozy 6x6 Paper Pad, SU Merry Moments 6x6 Paper Pad; SU Chocolate Chip Cardstock; Watercolour paper.

Gimmie A Hug Snowman

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

It's Christmas in July!  With all this extreme heat lately, it's a bit difficult to think about Christmas cards...but, such a great time to get ahead of the rush!!!

For today's post, I am sharing another Christmas/Winter card using an older, but super adorable image!
 Jane

This is Gimmie A Hug Snowman (Q003) and Dot Warm Winter Wishes sentiment (H257).  Such a cute image and quick and easy one to colour too!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the snowman's carrot nose and holly leaves. Also, some Xmas Red Stickles were applied on the holly berries to add a bit of sparkle.  Once this was all dry, I proceeded to fussy cut out the image.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The sky background is a piece of designer paper from MFT-Watercolor Wash 6x6 Paper Pad.  The snow hills were die cut using a Stitched Slopes & Hills die from Simon Says on white cardstock.  The trees were die cut using a Frantic Stamper die called Tall Pine Tree using SU Garden Green cardstock.  The base of the trees were coloured brown with the Tombow markers.  To create the snow falling, a Tim Holtz Snowfall Embossing Folder was first used on the sky, then Frosted Lace Stickles were applied on each raised piece of snow.  What a nice sparkle and little bit of texture this added to the card.  The edge of the snow hill was also done with some Frosted Lace Stickles.

The "Warm Winter Wishes" sentiment was stamped with a versamark ink pad and SU Early Espresso Embossing Powder was applied then heated. To complete this card, the entire scene was die cut a YNS-Stitched Rectangle die and the main image was adhered using foam tape to add some depth and focus on the cute little fella.

Peeking Snow Angel Tags

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

It's Christmas in July!  What a great opportunity to start those Christmas cards and tags early!

For today's post, I am sharing one Christmas tag stamp--using 3 different techniques.
 Jane

This is Peeking Snow Angel Tag (S150), along with 2 additional sentiment stamps - To:/From: (E068) and Believe (E126).  Such a cute image with soooo many possibilities!

Tag (left) - Tombow Tag
To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the tag (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the snow angel's carrot nose and halo.  Also, Star Dust Stickles was applied on the snow angel's wings for a glittery look.  A bow was tied using some twine from my stash.

Tag (middle) - Mini Minc Tag
The image was stamped on plain white cardstock then copied using my laser printer on to some more plain white cardstock.  With the photocopied image, I place a piece of gold foil (shiny side up) over top of the image and used my mini minc machine to run it through.  Wow-what a shiny look, when you tilt this tag!  I used a Zig-Wink of Stella gold glitter pen to colour.  For the snow angel's wings, a Zig-Wink of Stella clear glitter pen was used to add just a bit more sparkle!  The ribbon is a gold sequin type from my stash.  I just love how this tag turned out!  And so easy and quick to make too!

Tag (right) - Perfect Pearl Tag
This tag was stamped on black cardstock using a Versamark Ink Pad (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then Clear Embossing Powder was applied and heated.  To colour this image, I wanted to try a technique that I've never done before.  It's usually a good idea to use tags for experimenting with new ideas and techniques on.  At least from my past experience that is what I prefer to do!  I got out some of my Perfect Pearls and a small paint pallet and chose 5 different colours to use on my tag (see below - Supplies Used for actual colours of Perfect Pearls I used).  I took a very, very, very tiny amount of the dry powder and put it into separate trays on my paint pallet then added a couple of droplets of water to each powder and mixed it with my fine water brush.  This created a watery paint mix.  Since the embossing resists the pearl mixture, it was fairly easy to colour up this tag and keep the paint inside the embossing. The sentiment was heat embossed using White Embossing Powder.  A sparkly silver ribbon with a bow tied, was added to complete this tag.  I was amazed on how shimmery this tag appears in real life from using Perfect Pearls to colour/paint with!

 Jane

and a peek with the bi-fold opened

This is Team Canada (S180) and Oh Canada! sentiment (F080).  Such a fantastic image with all the little Canadian animals!

To start, I used a piece of watercolour paper and a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, Glossy Accents were added on the animal's noses. Also, a Gelly Roll - white gel pen was applied on some of the animal's cheeks to add a bit of interest.

For the card base, I decided to create somewhat of a bi-fold card to resemble the Canada flag. So a piece of SU Real Red cardstock was chose.  I was not satisfied that the right hand side of the card would stay closed and lay flat, so I took a one hole punch and some Tombow-Hook and Loop fasteners (thin velcro with adhesive on the back) and punched two sets of them.  I figured that this would be a good way to keep the card closed, yet easy enough to open.

The "Oh Canada" sentiment was stamped with a Memento tuxedo black ink pad and the celebrate is a die cut from a Penny Black set called Celebrations. To complete this card, a bunch of crystal gemstones were applied around the main image.

I'm back to share a Father's Day card with you, using an older, but adorable image...
 Jane
with the barn doors closed...

with the barn doors slid open...

This is Maribelle Cow (S120) and sentiment from Sentiment Set #3 (U506).  My dad is a dairy farmer (can you tell?) and with Father's day coming up next weekend, I thought this would make for a great card for him.  I am certain he will enjoy sliding the barn doors open and closed on it!

To begin, I used a Versamark Ink Pad to stamp the image (using my Misti Stamping Tool) then applied Black Embossing Powder on the ink and heated it.  To colour the image, Tombow Markers and water were used.  After the colouring was finished and dry, a Zig-Wink of Stella pen-glitter gold, was applied on the cow bell.  These pens are so easy and fun to use to add that bit of glitter to any project!  Glossy Accents was used on the cow's mouth, horns, and udder. I just love some shine and texture on my cards!  The image was carefully fussy cut out after the gloss and glitter was dry.

For the card base, I decided on a piece of SU Black Cardstock, along with a white piece of cardstock for some layering.  The designer papers are from American Crafts-Stitched 6x6 paper pad (clouds) and Doodlebug-Goal 6x6 paper pad (grass).  The barn is a die from Elizabeth Crafts called Barn Pop Stand; however, I did not want to do a pop up card for this project, so I just used the cut to lay flat on my card (which also works well).  SU Cherry Cobbler, Black and White cardstock was used to die cut all the pieces of the barn. A Tim Holtz background stamp was used to create the weathered wood look for the barn siding on the Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  I was surprised on how much fun and easy it was to assemble this barn.  Almost like building a real barn-LOL!  I love the idea of the barn doors sliding open and closed.  This is where I thought the sentiment would be fun to hide!  The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder and cut apart to fit behind the doors.  Foam tape was applied to mount the main image on the card to add some dimension.

To complete this card, I die cut a wagon wheel and used just the spokes of it to create the fence in the background.  I found the size of the spokes to be about the right size for the fence I was wanting.  I am hoping my dad likes this card as it seems very appropriate for him.
