Spring Excitement

Am I the only one who gets a spring in their step with the first true days of spring? The days when the sun is bright, and warm and the sky is blue. Feels odd to say it but the first couple of days like that make me feel excited for nice weather and the flowers that will come up in my gardens. When I saw "Pogoin' Dragon" in the High Hopes Stamps line up he seemed to feel the same way so I created a fairly simple scene with him as the focus as he bounces around simply .... enjoying spring!

After stamping onto alcohol marker friendly paper I coloured with Copic markers and hand fussy cut the stamp. I found some bright blue cloud patterned paper, cut some clouds out of the "sky" and added some white paper behind them instead of using the die cut pieces. Next I placed a wavy slider die under the clouds and cut it out. I chose the wavy die so it would like he is jumping on his pogo stick as he is moved across the front of the card.
Next I cut out some tulips using a die in a light orange card stock. I added some dimension to the tulips, leaves and stems and clouds with coloured pencil. After gluing down the tulips I added a grass die cut. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Hedgies Happy Birthday!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Hedgie Stack - TDG027 for the image and Mini Sentiment Set #1 - HLL001 for the sentiment. These little hedgies are excited to wish someone special a very Happy Birthday!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 5.5". I cut the Crafter's Companion - Luxury Cardstock - Gold cardstock background paper to the size of 5.5" x 5.5" and adhered it directly to the base using double-sided tape. AITOH Origami - Print Chiyogami - Butterflies paper was cut to the size of 5.25" x 5.25" and glued on top of the gold paper. Using my Couture Creations - Go Power and Emboss and PinkFresh Essentials: Folk Edge Squares, I die cut another square from Crafter's Companion - Luxury Cardstock - Gold and Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I popped up the gold die cut onto the floral background using U-Line double-sided tape. I stamped the main image onto the Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black.

The image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I used a Gelly Roll Sakura #5 Pen to create some more texture in the fur by just dabbing it everywhere. I'm hoping that it looks like little spikes at the end of their fur. I applied U-Line double-sided tape to the back of the coloured image and popped it up onto the gold die-cut. I stamped the sentiment using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. Using a 3/4" punch, I punched out the circle surrounding the sentiment. Then, using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time - Bunch of Fun Circle Dies, I die cut a slightly larger circle out of a scrap piece of gold paper from Crafter's Companion - Luxury Cardstock - Gold. I ran the sentiment through my Xyron Create a Sticker and attached it directly to the gold circle. Using some U-Line double-sided tape, I popped it up onto the coloured image. Lastly, to complete my card, I added in some PinkFresh Studio - Essentials Jewel Mix and flowers gems from the Dollar Store.

Somebunny Loves You!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Bunny Blossoms - TDG024 for the image and Some Bunny - FDG032 for the sentiment. I just love this super adorable little bunny taking time to smell the flowers. Spring is here, but the winter snow keeps playing tricks on us still. LOL! We just had another snow storm the other day. I thought April was supposed to bring Spring showers, not Spring snow!!!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of AC Cardstock - White, cut and scored to be 6" x 6". I cut the Recollections - Matte Gold Foil cardstock background paper to the size of 6" x 6" and adhered it directly to the base using double-sided tape. Crafts Designer Paper - 02-3093268 was cut to the size of 5.75" x 5.75" and inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Black Soot. I applied U-Line double-double sided tape and popped the paper onto the gold backing. Using my Couture Creations - Go Power and Emboss and Waffle Flower - Nesting Square dies, I die cut another square from Recollections - Matte Gold Foil cardstock and Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I popped up the gold square onto the bunny background and stamped the main image onto the Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black.

The image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I though I'd go out of my comfort zone this week to create this sky with a variety of different colours. I thought it still needed something more so I added in some clouds using a PrimaColor Pencil - White. I also added in some extra fur with PrimaColor Pencil - Beige. Once, I was satisfied with the sky, I added U-Line double-sided tape to the back of it and it too was popped up onto the card. The sentiment was stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black. I fussy cut around it and then applied it to a small piece of Recollections - Matte Gold Foil cardstock using repositionable tape. I used my Brother Scan and Cut to cut around the image with a slight border. I coloured around the circle stamped image with RV000 and then used a black marker to go all around the edges. I applied U-Line double-sided tape and popped it up onto the gold die-cut. Lastly, 2 layers of the U-Line double-sided tape were applied to the right side only of the sentiment and glue to the left and attached it to the base coloured paper to finish off the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Bunny Blossoms - TDG024 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Some Bunny - FDG032 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Black Soot

Paper: Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card, AC Cardstock - White, Recollections - Matte Gold Foil cardstock, Crafts Designer Paper - 02-3093268

Die Cuts: Waffle Flower - Nesting Square dies

Tools: MISTI - Most Incredible Stamping Tool, U-Line double-sided tape, Couture Creations - Go Power and Emboss, Brother Scan and Cut, Gelly Roll Sakura #10 Pen

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I inked around the edges of the base card with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Fossilized Amber and around the floral background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Peeled Paint. I applied U-Line double-sided tape onto the floral background and solid green background and popped up both onto the base card. I stamped the image onto the small rectangle that I had cut out of the Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black. The sentiment was also stamped with the same ink and then fussy cut. I inked around the sentiment with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Peeled Paint and set it aside for later. The image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I applied multiple layers of U-Line double-sided tape to the back of the sentiment and applied one layer to the back of the main image and popped them both up on the card. Welcome Spring

Spring finally feels like it is here although last week felt more like summer with hot weather and humidity. I like spring because we usually get April showers and if we're lucky a rainbow and once May hits, I can plant some flowers that attract butterflies and bees.

I decided to do a card celebrating a few of the things I love about spring and "Sting" and "Rainbow In Clouds" from High Hopes were perfect for me to create a scene with. I used a design originally shared by my fellow dt member and dear friend Cheri called a front stepper card (link below). It is a perfect design for this after a rain shower scene.

I stamped my stamps, coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut them. I left a thin white edge around Sting and coloured and cut an extra cloud to go with the rainbow. Now to be honest here, I had a little mishap when I was cutting Sting out.....I cut off one of the raindrops by accident - yikes. I fixed it by taking a small piece of acetate, gluing it to the back of the flower and then gluing the raindrop on the other end. It is kind of a cool effect since the rain drop now looks like it is floating in mid air. I also added some sparkle pen to Sting's wings and the rainbow.

I set the coloured images aside and using Cheri's tutorial found here (front stepper card) I cut and scored my base pieces.
Some gorgeous rainbow paper from Lawn Fawn was perfect for my theme so I cut the pieces to fit my design. I added some grass tufts to ground Sting so he didn't look like he was floating in mid air.
Next some blue sky paper from Craft Consortium was cut to size and I added the rainbow in the clouds stamp and the extra cloud. I stamped and cut the sentiment to fit and added some glitter dots to finish off the card.

Butterfly Kisses!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I used Bessie Buggies Bloom - S173 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the main image and Butterfly Kisses - D007 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Bessie is all set for Spring and flowers blooming. I'm not very good with flowers, but my husband has a green thumb and is really good at keeping our flower garden looking beautiful every year.

To make this card I started off with a base card of 6" x 6". I fell in love with this background paper as it suited the sentiment and the darling little butterfly "Bessie" so well. I tried to colour Bessie's wings and outfit to match the colours of the other butterflies in the background.

Once the image was coloured, I added some Wink of Stella - Clear to the wings. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up in the picture. I die cut the finished image using my Cuttlebug and circle dies and then I die cut a black circle to layer it onto. I thought this made the image pop. I stamped the sentiment and also layered that onto some black cardstock. I then popped up the sentiment and the image with 3M VHB - 2 sides tape. To finish off the card, I inked around all of the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Pine Needles.
