Tractor Christmas

Late this past Saturday night my husband had a special request for a Christmas card for his boss. His boss loves John Deere tractors and they use them daily for work, he has a collection of antique JD tractors and he also restores them. Of course my creative brain went into overdrive. A masculine card, with a tractor and Christmas themed....uh boy - I have my work cut out for me! Gulp!

Thankfully, High Hopes Rubber Stamps has two tractors in their stamp line up - now I just had to wait for him to choose which one he wanted me to use. Oh and did I mention he wants to give it to him at his Christmas party next Saturday? Hubby chose the antique style tractor and this is the card I came up with. Here's hoping the boss likes it!

I did some creative masking (the stamp comes with flowers by the wheels) and stamped the tractor on alcohol marker friendly paper. After I hand drew a few of the lines to complete the wheels, I coloured the stamp with Copic alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it. I followed the same process with the Farm Background stamp as I didn't want the whole scene in the stamp.
Once the colouring and fussy cutting was done, I die cut some snow banks using a hills die and layered them on my card base. Paper from Recollections was perfect for a snowy sky background behind the farm. Patterned paper from Memory Box was perfect for the 5.5" x 5.5" card base.
I added some twine under the scene, stamped the sentiment and added it to the card. Before adding the sentiment, I watered down some white paint and splattered it on the scene to create a "it's snowing" effect. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Happy Birthday Bluebird

On Sunday the weather was cold, rainy and grey so I headed to my craft room for some colouring. I wanted to colour something that made me smile and brightened my day. I went through some images I had stamped and keep in a future colouring folder and found "Bluebird" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. A perfect stamp to colour on a dreary day and make a card to add to my birthday card stash.

I coloured this cute bird with Copic markers after stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper. When the colouring was done, I cut it out with a rectangle die. Then, I took a circle die, put over top of the space I wanted it to surround and traced the inside of the die with a pencil. Next, I grabbed my exacto knife and fussy cut around everything on the inside of the circle. Yes I questioned my sanity after starting but at that point I was committed.
After the cutting was done, I found some patterned paper from Echo Park and my stash that were perfect for my 5.5" x 5.5" card design. The frame around the edge of the stamped image was created by taking two larger rectangle dies, laying them inside each other, taping them down and running them through my die cut machine.  The sentiment is from a larger stamp that I masked off to get the part of the sentiment I wanted and ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Christmas Believe

I not sure which I need more of .... snowman or penguin Christmas cards. I have friends and family who love them so I end up colouring a lot of each every year. Thankfully, High Hopes Rubber Stamps has lots of snowman stamps. "Believe Snowman"  is one of my favourites and I make at least one card (it's usually more <smile>) with this stamp every year.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic sketch markers and cut the stamp out with a slash stitched die. I added some Star Dust Stickles the to the snow and icicles - I like a bit of sparkle on my Christmas cards. Patterned paper from Echo Park was perfect to create my card design with. After cutting the layers, everything was glued together and glued down on the card. I stamped the sentiment and added it under the ribbon bow. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

He Gnomes

I have a few people on my Christmas card list who love gnomes so the "Santa's List" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps was perfect for a card for one of them. High Hopes has a few different Christmas gnomes to choose from so it was a tough choice......but I will definitely be colouring more of them!

I stamped on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured with Copic markers and hand fussy cut the stamp. I added some sparkle to his hat with Star Dust Stickles and set him aside to dry. Patterned paper from three different companies came together to help put the design together and a notebook edge die gave me the "Santa is taking notes" look I was hoping for. I added some fishtail banner ends to add some interest to the card and finished it off with the sentiment, twine and enamel dots. The stamp is added with foam pop dots to help give the card some dimension.

Winking Holiday Cheer

After taking a bit of a break from making Christmas cards, I am back at it. When I am creatively challenged as I like to call it, I will look at my stamps and try to find a way to make them go further. This stamp comes with a frame around it but I decided to just colour the snowman and fussy cut it for a different look. Meet the adorable "Winking Snowman" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps! How cute is he?!?

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him. Patterned paper from three different companies helped the design come together. I added some sparkly icicle border the the top of some of the paper, sparkly ribbon and glitter enamel dots - I love adding a bit  of sparkle to my Christmas cards. The sentiment was stamped and added at the bottom to finish off the card.

Not A Bill

I have quite a few Christmas cards I need to mail each year and I hope that the people who receive them are happy it isn't a bill showing up in their mailbox. "Not A Bill" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is perfect for sending some holiday cheer. It come with grass under his feet and by the mailbox post but I chose to fussy cut him and add some snowbanks to make a Christmas card.

I coloured this cutie with Copic markers after stamping him on alcohol marker friendly paper and hand fussy cut him. I did the same thing for the tree and added some Stickles for "snow". Patterned paper from Mintay was the perfect backdrop for this outdoor scene. I added some snow banks and cut thin strips of card stock to glue on top to give the stamp a place to "rest" and create another snow bank. I tucked the mailbox post and tree in behind the first snow bank,  glued them down and stamped and added the sentiment. Some simple enamel dots finish off the card.

Holiday Cheer

I'm back in my craft room getting some Christmas cards done. This "Bird Song" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps just makes me giggle! I would be the upside down one in the middle ha ha. I need a few cards in my stash that aren't too full of bling for some of the men on my list and I think this card fits that bill.

Here's hoping this card brings a smile and holiday cheer to one of them.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic markers and cut the stamp put with a stitched tag die. I added a hole on the end so I could add just a touch of sparkly ribbon. Star Dust Stickles were added to the balls on their hats and the edge of the scarf but that is kind of hard to see in the picture. Next I found some patterned paper from Echo Park and cut it to complete the design on a 5.5" x 5.5" card base. The sentiment is actually two lines but I masked off the bottom line and stamped it for this card.
Some sparkly icicles add a winter feel to the card and some sparkly dots finish it off.

Today I'm sharing our adorable image called Lg. Stackable Stanley which I have paired with our Merry Christmas sentiment.  We also have a smaller Stackable Stanley which you can find here.

This image is just so fun to play around with the possibilities are endless.

I coloured this cutie up while I was away in June at my son's in the Yukon.  I needed to get myself ahead for Christmas cards this year.

I cut out a few snowflakes with glitter paper & added some silver glittered enamel dots for just a bit of sparkle.  I added a little Twine bow in blue & white....which by the way I pilfered from my friend lol.

Hummingbird Wishes

I am taking a break from making Christmas cards and adding to my birthday card stash with this card featuring "Hummingbird" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. This stamp reminds me of my girls weekend at a friends cottage. She has a few window hummingbird feeders around her cottage and it is so fun to sit and watch them come in to feed. They are amazing little creatures and I love to sit and listen to the hum of their wings.

I coloured this pretty stamp with Copic alcohol markers after stamping it on alcohol marker friendly paper and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. Next, I found some water color paper from Lawn Fawn and cut it to fit my 5" x 5" card base. I cut a circle to go behind the stamp using two nesting circles, added some sparkly mesh I had in my stash and using the largest circle cut some white cardstock to put behind it. All of the paper edges are inked lightly to help them stand out. Enamel dots finish off my card.

It's time for a little bit of Fall!

Happy Tuesday HH fans!

It's hard to believe Summer is over!!  I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Labour Day yesterday.

I went away this weekend to have some crafty time with my friend.  We coloured, made cards & enjoyed some great food.  Oh and I organized all my pencils & even went on a little adventure to Michael's to see if I could get a few of the missing pencils I needed.  So much fun!!

Lately I have been playing around with my Prismacolor Premier Pencils & just lovin' the learning process.  I have always used Gamsol for blending but this weekend I didn't.  My friend gave me a little lesson on blending just using the pencils.  At first try I wasn't a fan & wanted to run for my Gamsol and blending stumps.  BUT, I gave it another go after a little more of a lesson & this is what I came up with.

This is Angel Bear Pumpkin with Happy Fall Y'all.  I removed the Y'all part of the sentiment just in case you were wondering.  I still need more practice but I was quite pleased with how this turned out.  Hope you think so too.

Having a MOO-RRY Christmas!

 Happy Tuesday HH fans!

I'm back this week with our adorable image called Charlie's Christmas which I have paired with our sentiment called MOO-RRY Christmas.

I have a few friends that are just obsessed with cows...not sure which friend is getting this one yet.

Purple is my favourite colour so I thought it would be fun to colour this cutie up with the purples.

I'm sorry I didn't keep track of the Prisma pencils I used to colour with.  I was on vacation in the Yukon when I coloured this one.

Thanks for poppin' by today & happy stampin'!

Winter Moose Trio

Now that most of the birthday cards I need are done I can focus on the next big thing...Christmas cards!!!! I also need to make a ton of them so with some cooler weather where I live this weekend, I was inspired to officially start the Christmas season..... in my craft room as least! I am starting off the season with a trio of cards featuring Winter Moose from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

How cute is he!!??

I stamped the moose three times on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut two and cut one with a rectangle die. Next I got out some of my Echo Park paper pads and my stash and cut each piece to fit my card bases. 2 are A2 size and the square card is 5" x 5". I laid out each design and glued everything down. I added clear sparkle pen to the snowflakes and on the blue and card with the circle on it, popped the stamp up with 3D foam dots. Ribbon, enamel and sparkly dots and Star Dust Stickles on the hats and scarves finish off my cards.

Celebrate the Magic of Christmas!

 Happy Tuesday HH fans!

Christmas will be here before you know it....sorry just had to put that out there.  I'm continuing on my little journey to get as many cards done for the season as I can.  I don't want to get to December & kick myself for not working on them sooner lol.

This week I have one of my favourites to share, this is Hope for Peace Snowy.  I coloured this cutie up with my Prisma pencils, again while I was away in the Yukon in June.  I paired this with our sentiment called Magic of Christmas because Christmas is magical to me.

Instead of leaving the bird white (for a dove) I went with a red Cardinal.  Cardinals remind me of my Mom who past a few years ago.

Even though I didn't have the best cardstock for colouring with pencils with me I think this turned pretty decent.

Hope you enjoyed today's card & thanks for popping by!

Happy stampin'!

Bear Birthday

July is a big Birthday month for me. Most of my immediate family has a Birthday in July and most of them are men and young me that I need cards for. My Dad's Birthday is one of them and he used to always tell us when we were kids he is going to move us up into the bush so we can live off the land.......so I thought the Bear and Mountains stamps from High Hopes were perfect for his Birthday card.

I stamped the bear and mountains on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut them. I set them aside and found some patterned paper from Honey Bee Stamps for the sky and cut it to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base.
Next, I got some green cardstock and cut out some grass and trees to create my scene. I glued them all down and added a piece of light blue card stock for the water. I added the bear and mountain stamps, twine, and the sentiment and finished it off with enamel dots.

Card Recipe

Stamp - Bear (TDG002), Mountains (TDG007) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment - Pirates Birthday (F147)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper - Modern Spring - Honey Bee Stamps, Outdoor Adventure Basics - Paper Rose

Merry Christpaws from our Winter Kitty!

 Happy Wednesday HH fans!

I hope you are all having a great week so far!  I was under the weather yesterday and didn't feel up to getting on the computer to do anything.

For this week's card I'm sharing another image I coloured with my Prisma pencils while I was away in the Yukon in June.  When I posted this morning I actually called this image Winter Kitty BUT it is actually our Winter Pup.  I have paired it with Merry Christpaws.

I cut the sentiment in half so I could place it on the top & bottom of the stocking.  This card is pretty clean & simple.

I picked up the stocking die which is from Sizzix at a craft sale a couple of month's ago.  My friend and I had a blast looking through all the amazing stuff people had.

Sorry I didn't track the pencils I used....I was on holiday lol.

I ran the blue cardstock through with an older dot embossing folder I had & added a few sparkly enamel dots.  Oh and some Stickles to the hat & pom pom.

Thanks for poppin' by today & happy stampin'!

Chillin' Charlie

 Happy Wednesday HH fans!

Today I'm sharing our sweet image called Chillin' Charlie.  I broke away from my Copics for a bit & coloured up a few images with my Prisma Premier pencils.  Will share some of the others with you soon.

When I travelled to the Yukon last month I just didn't feel like lugging my Copics with me so hence the pencils.  It has been a long time since I used pencils....so....please be gentle with me.

I picked some not so traditional colours for this cutie.  Also I didn't have my Indigo Blue pencil so I had to do a little improvising.  Indigo Blue has always been a go to for me so the struggle was real lol.

I was at a crafty garage sale with a friend of mine before I went away & I was lucky enough to pick up some great dies.  This one is a Memory Box die, don't know the name of it though.  I die cut it out of the navy cardstock for some contrast over the lighter patterned paper.

I paired Charlie with our Sparkle sentiment & added a few sparkly enamel dots to finish it off.  Oh and maybe just a little Stickles for some extra sparkle.
