Grill Master Birthday

Food off the BBQ is a summer favourite of mine. I am blessed to have more then a few “grill masters” in my life who can cook all the things on the BBQ like burgers, chicken thighs, steak and bacon wrapped sausage to name a few.......and now I am hungry!  Grillin’ Joseph” from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is a grill master himself and has just finished making some sausage – grill marks and all! I think he is perfect for a birthday card for one of the grill masters in my life.

I stamped my image on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I don't have any bbq themed dies or embellishments so I decided I would try making a chef apron with the dies I have.
I started by cutting a wide stitched tag and trimming it to take off the stitching. Next, I measured the space I wanted it to fill on my card and again cut it down to size. It took a few tries, but using an oval die, I positioned it where I wanted the arm cut out to be on the apron and traced around the outside edge. After cutting it with scissors, I flipped it over to the other side to create the second arm hole and added some ribbon to the top where it would wrap around his neck. The only thing I forgot was to add some ribbon for the strings that would tie around his back.....next time <smile>.
Next I cut a square piece of card stock to the size I wanted for a pocket, scored the edges and cut off the corners to get a nice, flat fold. I added the "cook and fire" to the pocket by masking off the Flame Broilin' stamp (a bbqing dragon from High Hopes) and stamped it on the pocket, folded the edges down after inking the edges and glued it down. I hung it off the corner of the card base just for fun.
The large square gingham reminded me of the old picnic table cloths we used to have when I was a kid so I chose one in blue from the Gotta Have Gingham pad from Lawn Fawn and used it for my card base. I inked all of the paper edges with Antique Linen distress ink, stamped and added the sentiment and some twine and enamel dots to finish off the card.

Cat & Mouse Party

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Cat & Mouse Party - TDG036 for the image and Dot Happy Birthday To You! - F065 for the sentiment. These animals are ready to party, are you?

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of AC Cardstock - White paper cut and scored to be 6" x 6". Using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time -Stitched Squares Inside and Out, I die cut 3 squares out of Doodlebug Design Inc. - Fairy Tales, Recollections - Spring Inks paper and Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I also used Doodlebug Design Inc. - Fairy Tales 6" x 6" paper for my main background. I applied this directly to the base card using double-sided tape. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Evergreen Bough and Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry were both used to go around the edges of the die-cut paper. I applied U-Line double-sided tape to the backs of the aqua coloured square and patterned paper and popped them both up onto the background.

The image and sentiment were both stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI - Most Incredible Stamping Tool and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink. The image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I die cut the sentiment using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine and My Creative Time - Stitched Zig Zag Ties. Copic marker RV06 was used to go around the edges. I attached the coloured image to Recollections - Spring Inks paper using double-sided tape and then cut a slim border around the image. I applied U-Line double-sided tape to the back of this piece and popped it up into the centre of the patterned square. 4 layers of U-Line double-sided tape were attached to the back of the sentiment on the bottom portion and liquid glue was applied to the top. I popped this up onto the card at the bottom. Lastly, to finish the card off, I applied Creative Impressions - Metallic Balloon Brads by adding 2 layers of U-Line double-sided tape. I popped them onto the sentiment and the card and drew in some string for the balloons. Stickles - Star Dust was added to the cake and confetti.

Happy Bear-day!

Welcome!
I'm so glad you stopped by today to see this adorable "Buddy Bear's Surprise" from High Hopes Stamps! He's just too cute and just makes me smile! Buddy Bear makes the perfect Birthday card and fits in so well with the "Let's Celebrate" theme this month! I paired Buddy with the "Happy Bear-day" sentiment, perfect for him and this card!
I started my design process by stamping the image onto Copic friendly paper and coloured Buddy in with my Copic Sketch Markers. I'm in love with these papers from the Echo Park "Our Wedding" 6x6 collection. I have lots of layers on this card: banner die cuts, a heart banner, and small round doily die cut as well as the basic layers. I inked all the edges of my papers and die cuts with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. Buddy and the sentiment are popped up with foam tape for added dimension.

Chi Chi's Party!

Howdy -MichelleO here - ready for a party? Today for High Hopes Stamps I colored a little party with Chi Chi's Party! This cute little Chihuahua is ready to have a great party!

I wanted this guy to have one loud bold party so I dug into my papers and found some Paper Studio Hippy Chic papers with lots of glitter and fun bold colors! I sewed down the layers onto a piece of Bazzill dotted card stock and then a cream color card base. Love the colors! And because the papers have glitter I just had to add some glitter to my image as well. So out came out the Nuvo glitter paint pen!

For my sentiment I went with High Hopes Stamps "Happy Birthday Script"  - love the font goes with so many styles of cards! I used a EK Success ticket punch for a mat on the sentiment. Now it was a little short... so I punched two and put them together.. cheated a bit but it worked I think.

Love how fun and.. and... well BOLD this one came out!

Copic colors used -

Now you must pop over to the High Hopes Stamps Web Store (HERE) and see all the fabulous images you will fall head over heels in love with! I just know it!

Hog Happy Birthday

I have a few friends who love pigs. They think they are awesome and would love to have a property to keep some on. I have had a few experiences in my life with pigs - mostly feeding them and cleaning out their pens. For the most part they were friendly and kind of comical actually especially the piglets. It was fun to watch them experience new things as they are quite curious and smart.

I can't say they are one of my favourite animals but for some of my friends they are so when I saw the "Hog Happy" stamp in the "Let's Celebrate" re-release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps, I knew this cute hog with her balloon and party hat would be perfect for one of their birthday cards.

After stamping my image on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured it with Copic markers and cut it out using a stitched scalloped nesting tag. I set it aside and cut patterned paper from Craft Consortium and Echo Park to fit my design and 5.5" x 5.5" card base. Next, I stamped the sentiment, cut it to size and added it to some matching card stock. I glued down the tag and sentiment and added flowers from Poppies & Paperie, enamel dots and a bow to finish off the card.

Birthday Party Girl!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Party Girl - TDG034 for the image and Open Happy Birthday - G039 for the sentiment. This little girl loves to dance and celebrate! She is ready for a really nice party to share her birthday with all of her friends.

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I cut out the background to the same size using Bubbly Girls - Party - Yvonne Creations cardstock. This was applied directly to base card with double-sided tape. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Salvaged Patina was used to ink around all of the edges of the card.

The image and sentiment were both stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and coloured in with Copic Markers. Using my scissors, I fussy cut around both the image and sentiment. For the sentiment, I used a black marker to go around the edges to hide the white. Using Copic markers, I tried to match the background as best as I could for the coloured image to blend in. I applied U-Line double-sided tape to all of the pieces and popped them up onto the base card. Lastly, to finish it off, I added in 3 gumdrops from YNS Gumdrops - Pretty Peacock Matte Gumdrops.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Party Girl - TDG034 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Open Happy Birthday - G039 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Cupcake Hedgie

Howdy - MichelleO here and today for High Hopes Stamps I pulled out a sweet little image for a Happy Birthday Card. This is Cupcake Hedgie

Now I have to be honest here... I have never in my life seen a hedgehog in real life. They just are not a common little critter here in Texas. They are cute, but I just don't have connection with them, but I decided to pull out this little guy and make friends with him. I colored with my Copics with a few pencils for more hair look. I also added some Nuvo glitter paint to my cupcake. I just love the sparkle in my frosting :0)

For my papers I have been digging deep in my stash - this is from the Cosmo Cricket collection Jitterbug collection. Love the color combo!  I must have loved them.. cuz I bought a bunch of it.. LOL

The sentiment is also from High Hopes stamps. One of my favorite Happy Birthday sentiments - this is Raggedy's Birthday - love the font!

A dreamy day!!

 Happy Friday Friends!!

Thanks so much for popping by today!  I have had this adorable image coloured up for a while now & I thought it was time to get her made into a card.  This is "Fairy On A Log".  I have paired this sweetie with "Dot Simple Happy Birthday".

This fairy just takes me to thoughts of a dreamy day, sitting in nature & enjoying everything around me.  I kept the design for this card very simple.  Since I chose the Copic BV's it was a little challenging to match cardstock...but I like the choice I made.  I just had a couple sheets left, I believe it is a retired Bazzil color.  I don't remember the name of the colour...sorry!

Best Fishes Fred

It’s all about celebrating birthdays on the High Hopes blog and this week I have a card featuring “Fisherman Fred”. His expression just makes me laugh! I feel like he is thinking ...all that work for this tiny fish?! I am sure he has a story about the big one that got away..........all the fishermen always do!

I broke my own rules with this stamp. After stamping and colouring Fred with Copic markers, I fussy cut him and cut the tackle box away from his foot. I like to leave the stamps in one piece but this scene called for a little thinking outside the box because I wanted to use the pond with him. I set him aside and cut patterned paper from the Gone Camping collection from Carta Bella to fit my card base. Next I cut a piece of matching card stock slightly larger then my coloured image, added some water color paper for the sky and wrapped a some twine around the bottom. I stamped the sentiment from two different sentiments - this tested my patience to be honest! - and double mounted it on matching card stock. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Eat Cake!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Cupcake Hedgie - TDG035 for the image and Eat Cake - FDG026 for the sentiment. I think the expression on this little hedgie says it all! Birthdays should always be an excuse to eat some cake! LOL!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I adhered Scrapbook.com - Brights Smooth Cardstock which was the same size as the base to the card using double-sided tape. Using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine die cutting machine, I die cut the cake background paper with Your Next Stamp Designer Pad - Birthday Boy and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Blueprint Sketch was then inked around all of the edges. I add some U-Line double-sided tape and popped it up onto the base card. Again, using my Empress die cutter, I die cut some golden yellow cardstock using My Creative Time -Stitched Squares Inside and Out. I added some U-Line double sided tape and added it to the patterned background. Waffle Flower - Nesting Square dies were used to die cut the smaller square out of Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and My Creative Time - Bunch of Fun Circle Die was used to die cut the circle from some Red cardstock.

The image and sentiment were stamped onto the Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I coloured in the image with Copic Markers. I added Stickles - Star Dust to the cupcake to make the layers sparkle. A 1.5" Circle punch was used to cut out the sentiment. U-Line double sided tape was added to the backs of the image and sentiment. I popped up the image onto the smaller square and the sentiment onto the red circle. I added another layer of U-Line double sided tape to the right side of the red circle and a little bit of glue to the left side and popped it up over top of the main image. To finish off the card, I added on some YNS Gumdrops - Firefly Magic Sparkly Gumdrops and YNS Gumdrops - Sugar Rush Sparkly Gumdrops.

Bandit's Cake!

Hello!
"Let's Celebrate" is the theme and re-release over at High Hopes Stamps for this month! "One of my friends always bakes her dog a cake for his birthday and "Bandit's Cake" just reminds me of them! Looks like Bandit and his little friend are having a fun feast! The "Eat Cake" sentiment is just perfect for this image!
I started my card by stamping the image onto Copic friendly paper and colouring it in with my Copic Sketch markers. I drew in his eyes to add a more realistic look. Using my Brother Cut N Scan, I cut out the image leaving a white border around him and popped him up with some foam tape. I tried to make the inside of the cake look like the "Funfetti/ confetti" type cake. The papers on my card today are from the Polkadoodles Birthday Fun 6x6 collection. Some colour coordinating enamel dots finish off my card.
Copics Used:

Yertle Turtle

Howdy - MichelleO here and today for High Hopes Stamps I went with little Yertle Turtle for my card. This little guy is just adorable! He is part of the re-release this month at High Hope Stamps "Let's Celebrate!"

He so makes me smile! I colored with my Copics (colors below) to match up with some fun glittered pattern papers from Heidi Grace designs. I know the glitter is hard to see in the photo, but trust me, it really sparkles! I decided that he deserved some zig zag stitching, and despite my machine not working 100% I went very slow and made it work. I just had too.. I am addicted to sewing on my cards. In cleaning out my stash I found some pretty ribbons from making memories that had the sticky already on them, wasn't sure if they would still stick, but they did! And the color worked well with the papers.

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps "Happy Birthday Script" I punched out an EK Success ticket from the pattern paper then cut and layered the stamp on top edge to edge. I love the color combos with this one. And I do love little Yertle..

Copics used -

Now you need to pop over to the High Hopes Stamps web store HERE and see all the fun going on! The new Re-Release "Let's Celebrate" is adorable fun!

Thanks so much!

Happy Belated...

 Hi Friday HH fans!!

Today I'm sharing an adorable image from High Hopes Rubber Stamps called Cupcake Hedgie....isn't he adorable?!

A few years back our daughter wanted a hedgehog sooooo bad.  My husband & I finally relented & let her get one....a few months later we had two.  Kovu & Kalee a boy and girl.  Of course we had to invest in the big Critter Nation cage because you can't put a male & female together.  Sadly this Spring we lost our beloved Kovu at almost 6 years old, he was an amazing boy, even our vet loved him.  Kalee is still doing well, she will be 6 in the Fall.  Contrary to popular belief hedgehogs can be very sweet, you just need to spend a lot of time with them.

Hedgehogs come in a variety of colours this cutie looks more like our little girl Kalee.  I paired the image with our Happy Belated Birthday sentiment....you can always use one of those in your stash.

Copic combos for this image...

Body - E43, E42, E41, E40, E50 with R01 on the cheeks

Skin - E000, E00, E01

Cow Party

It's easy to have fun and be the life of your birthday party when you've got the moooo-ves like "Party Cow" from the "Let's Celebrate" re release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I have a few friends and family who have dairy farms so this card will be perfect for one of their birthdays. I grew up spending my summers on dairy farms but I don't think I ever saw a cow with moooo-ves quite like this!

I stamped my dancing cow, coloured her with Copic markers and cut her out with a circle die. At the same time I cut a card stock circle to put behind her. Next, I cut the card stock and confetti background paper to fit the 5.5"x 5.5" card base and then cut the blue pieces to size. A fish tail banner was perfect to add behind the image and used up a smaller piece of confetti paper I had used for an earlier project. It's hard to see in the photo but I added Star Dust Stickles to the trim and pom pom on the hat for a bit of party sparkle! Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Chi Chi's Birthday Party!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Chi Chi's Party - TDG037 for the image and Happy Birthday - FDG027. This is just one of the new re-releases from our "Let's Celebrate" previously retired stamps at High Hopes Rubber Stamps during the month of June. You should pop on over and take a peek at the other new re-releases too.

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I cut Paper Pizazz - Hearts, Coils, Stars designer paper to be the same size as the base and adhered it with double-sided tape. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Chipped Sapphire was used to ink around all of the edges of the card. Using the Anna Griffin Empress Mini, I die-cut the rectangle using My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Dies. The image and sentiment were stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and I coloured in the image and the small balloon on the sentiment with Copic Markers. I added Wink of Stella - Clear to the yellow on the cupcake, hat and ribbons to make them sparkle. U-Line double sided tape was added to the backs of the image and sentiment and they were both popped up onto the patterned base card. Lastly, to finish the card off, I popped a red balloon over top of the balloon on the main image and then an additional 2 balloons for embellishments using Creative Impressions - Metallic Balloon Brads using 2 layers of U-Line double-sided tape.
