Smell The Flowers!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using Tink Picking Posies - T027 by High Hopes Rubber Stamps for the main image and Smell The Flowers - G189 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Most of the flowers are now in full bloom. It's so wonderful to see all of the beautiful colours and smell the wonderful aromas of the flowers in our garden. So happy that my husband has such a green thumb and loves gardening!

To make my card this week, I stamped my image and sentiment using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Cardstock. I stamped the image a second time onto plain copy paper and fussy cut around it to create a mask. My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Dies and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers were used to cut out the sentiment and background layer. I coloured in the image using Copic markers and then put my mask over top of the coloured image. Using stencils that I had created earlier with Avery Elle - Pierced Clouds Dies (D-05-01), I inked in the clouds using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Salty Ocean. Once this was done, I removed the mask.

To assemble my card, I started with a base using Hot Buy - Cards and Envelopes (5.5" x 4.25"). I ran the coloured image through my Xyron Create a Sticker and applied it to the black cardstock. 3M VHB - 2 sided tape, was applied to the back of the black frame and then it was attached directly to the base.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Tink Picking Posies - T027 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Smell The Flowers - G189 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Die Cuts: My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Dies, My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers, Avery Elle - Pierced Clouds Die (D-05-01)

Cardinal

Howdy MichelleO here today and here in Texas we are so blessed with beautiful Cardinal Birds - They are all over the farm here, I love watching them. Today for High Hopes Stamps I colored up the beautiful "Cardinal" bird - it was fun to color with all the shades of red.

While coloring my image I went through some old pattern papers and found one with similar flowers from Graphic 45 Dogs and Cats collection. Love how bold it is with the image. I finished coloring with my Copics (colors below) and even did a little shading with pencils.

A satin ribbon around the paper, then sewed the image down with a zig zag stitch. I told myself I wasn't going to sew on this one.... do something different. I just couldn't stand it, it needed it. LOL I added a bow once the image was down. Then I added the High Hopes sentiment "Sending Smiles" Its just a perfect sentiment for so many cards. I colored the sentiment with copics to shade it more like my image. It was too white before. Then I saw the backside of my pattern paper laying on my desk. It is a newspaper print, I adore newspaper pattern paper and I don't want to waste it - so - I punch out a ticket shape with an EK Success punch for a mat around my sentiment. Simple things make me happy -

Dream Big

Have you had a chance to see all of the stamps that have come out of retirement in the Mix It Up release? I love gnomes so I was excited to see the Wizarding Gnome back in the High Hopes line up!

I was always taught it is a good thing to have dreams so I have always tried to have one or two. Some have come true......some not so much but I think if I had my own personal wizarding gnome that might help don't you? <smile>

I stamped my gnome, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I set him aside and found some patterned paper from Craft Consortium and Asuka to put my card base together with. It is kind of hard to see but the grey paper in the background has a touch of the purple in the "stars".
I cut my paper to fit my design and added a scribbled star circle to put behind the gnome. I added the gnome with foam pop dots to add some dimension to the card. It is hard to photograph but I added clear rhinestones to the stars in for a bit of sparkle and a magical feel. To complete my card I stamped the sentiment and added it to matching card stock.

Card Recipe

Stamp: Wizarding Gnome - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Sentiments: Dream Big  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Happy Birthday MVP!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a masculine card using Touchdown Trevor - R027 by High Hopes Rubber Stamps for the main image and Happy Birthday MVP - G174 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Both of my brothers were All Stars when they played Football in High-School a long time ago. Sports were always a big part of our lives growing up and for a lot of our family, they still are!!!

To make my card this week, the image and sentiment were both stamped using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink. I used my Brother Scan and Cut to die cut the image and then I coloured it in with Copic markers. For the background, I used my Cricut Explore to die cut the football and goal post using Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. paper with an image from 3 Birds - Life's a A Party. Using pre-cut stencils for clouds, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Salty Ocean and a Picket Fence - Blending Brush to create them. I added in the grass with a Picket Fence - Blending Brush, finger dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Mowed Lawn. Black, brown and yellow cardstock were added behind the cut-out. The sentiment was cut with my cutter and the corners were snipped off with scissors. To give it an edge, I went around the cut sentiment with Copic marker - E23.

To assemble the card, I used The Paper Studio - Primary Simply Solids (4.25" x 5.5") for the base. 2-sided tape was applied to the back of the coloured background image and it was attached directly to the base. 3M VHB - 2 sided tape was attached to the back of the coloured image and back of sentiment and applied to the top of the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Touchdown Trevor - R027 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Happy Birthday MVP - G174 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Spring Birdhouse Garden

Howdy - MichelleO here today and despite the heat that has settled in there are still lots of beautiful flowers to see... and when pulling out to color that was what I was feeling... flowers! High Hopes Stamps "Spring Birdhouse Garden" is perfect for a little afternoon coloring!

This is such a pretty image, that I colored with lots of Copics. (colors below) Now because this is a larger image there isn't a lot of embellishing room. So I found a piece of simple gingham wood pattern paper for a background. I then used a Spellbinders lace border die in white to add to the background. My image is then set on and sewn on with a zig zag stitch. For a sentiment I used High Hopes Stamps "Smell the Flowers"  I think all the wildlife here was doing just that! Then three white enamel dots to finish off. Simple but pretty!

Copic colors used

Fun afternoon coloring with a pretty image! To see LOTS and LOTS of pretty images perfect for any project pop on over to the High Hopes Stamps web store HERE - I KNOW you will find lots you fall in love with.

Stitched With Love

I have a few friends and a ton of family who love quilting. I did a little bit of the stitching by hand when I was growing up but I haven't tried the cutting and piecing that goes into making the quilt top. My Grandmother rocked quilting and I have a number of her quilts in my home. My favourite is what I call my "Memories" quilt because the material used on it is all from clothes I had when I was younger - so cool!

I have a number of aunts who love quilting too so when I got a special request for a birthday card for one of them, I knew "Kathy Quilting Angel" from High Hopes would be perfect!

After stamping "Kathy" and colouring her with Copic markers I hand fussy cut her and left a thin white edge around her.
Next I glued her on matching card stock and cut her out again leaving a thin border. I added her to the card using pop dots and added some Star Dust Stickles to her wings.
Patterned Paper from the Twitterpated collection from Stampin' Up worked perfectly for my card. I cut out stitched squares with a die and set them aside. I laid out my stitched squares in a quilt type pattern on card stock, glued them down when I was happy with it and hand cut a thin edge around it to help them pop off the background.
Next I created a sentiment on my computer and cut it out using a stitched fish tail banner die and die cut a small heart in it just for fun. I masked off the Pirate's Birthday stamp to include a Happy Birthday sentiment and added a die cut spool of thread with a heart. Some cotton lace ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Scenic Route

When hubby and I are going somewhere and it is a long drive, we always try to find "the scenic" route. This usually ends up being the no highways way to go and we have seen some beautiful scenery and found some hidden gems over the years.

It is always fun to find a hidden gem and then go back to it when we have time to spend there ..... on a different road trip of course <wink> It is these road trips that were the inspiration for this card featuring "Choo Choo" from High Hopes.

After stamping this cutie and colouring it with Copic markers I hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I wanted to include a railroad track on my card but I didn't have a die for that so I used a curved edge die to cut the rails and then decided the width of the cross pieces and cut them to fit. I added some trees and clouds to help create my scene. I added my stamped image last and popped him up with some foam pop dots.

After stamping the sentiment I cut it to size and mounted it on matching card stock. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Surfin' Dudley!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I used High Hopes Stamps' image  Surf Scene Dudley - S244. I've seen surfers in action while travelling the world, but have never gone on one myself. Who knows, maybe someday???? Dudley, sure looks happy sporting his vacation pose. LOL!

Using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the image onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I coloured in the image with Copic markers and used Copic - Opaque White to create the splash on the waves. My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Dies and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers were both used to die cut the coloured image and background papers. The edges were inked around with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Evergreen Bough. The image was then attached to the Aqua background using double-sided tape.

To assemble the card, I began with a base card of Hot Buy - Cards and Envelopes (5.5" x 4.25"). I popped up the 2 backgrounds with 3M VHB - 2 sided tape and attached them both to the base card. Lastly, I added some pop-dots from CC Designs - Dragon Dreams Enamel to finish it off.

Happy Tuesday!
Oh my gosh I just love me anything Gnome!! Gnomes seem to be all the rage now and that suits me just fine! I was at our local garden centre recently and there were so many cute ones to add indoors or out in your garden! Now I'm just waiting for their sale and I'm going to scoop some up! The "Little Gnomes" stamp from High Hopes is absolutely adorable and I know this won't be the only card I design with them!
I decided to use papers from the Photoplay Tiny Prints called "Tulla & Norbert". The colours in this collection are so pretty and the plaid is my favourite! I stamped, coloured and then cut the image out using my Brother Cut N Scan. I added some ribbon and Stickles to their hats for a fun design element. Of course the HH sentiment called "Chillin' Gnomies" goes perfect with this image!
I added some foam squares to my cut out image to give my card a bit of dimension.

Pansy Arrangement

Howdy - MichelleO here and this week for High Hopes Stamps I went really girlie... Flowers and a little bling so pretty! This is Pansy Arrangement I just love them.

Now as I first sat down to color I just knew I was going purples... But I ran across this pattern paper from Graphic 45 that just called out and made me use it - so off went all the purples and then I started going for dark pinks and peach colors. I think it works... I did find that I need more peach colors with my Copics.. ha! I really thought I had most all of them, but I am missing a few... will have to look into that!

I sewed down the layers onto a white card stock base, and then cut out the pansies with an oval stitch die. The High Hopes Stamps sentiment "Smell the Flowers" seemed perfect. Wait... Pansies do smell right? Oh well it is the thought - for a finish I found some bling enamel dots that worked as embellishments. This card reminds me of my Grandma.. She would have loved it. Maybe that's why it makes me happy.

Copic colors used -

Your Best Miles are Still Ahead

Welcome Everyone;

Now that things are beginning to look up, we can look forward to some leisurely peaceful summer drives in the country and to the beach.   I remember the Beetle from growing up.  These cars may be small, but they certainly got you places.

For today's card, I have used Beetle Bug 1 from the Mix It Up release and paired it up with Best Miles;  which both have been sprung from the High Hopes Stamps Vault.  After colouring the samped image with Copic Markers, I used a Double Stitched Rectangle Die to cut it out and mounted it on some Foil from Kaisercraft.  To add the Silver glitter, I used a Nuvo Silver Glitter Marker to colour the area first, then added some Nuvo Silver Sparkle Dust.  I didn't think it was going to stick, but it did.  How long it will last is another story, and time will tell.  I haven't added Sparkle Dust to a card, this way before.  The creative experiment of the day.   Some enamel dots finished off this very CAS card.

 Supplies used:

  • Stamps:  Beetle Bug 1 (SS040), Best Miles (GG041) -- both from High Hopes Stamps, Mix It Up Release

Fairy Wishes

It's all about the magic of fairies with "Flying Fairy" from the Mix It Up Release at High Hopes.

Honestly, I wasn't told a lot about fairies when I was growing up but as I got older and could choose the books I wanted to read I found a few fantasy type books that exposed me to the magic of fairies. I used to watch for fire flies and when I saw them imagined they were fairies.
I chose to add this gorgeous stamp to an inked background I created hoping to give my card a magical feel.

I stamped this fun fairy and coloured her using Copic markers. I added some clear sparkle pen to her wings and wand but it is hard to see in the photo. Next I hand fussy cut her leaving a thin white edge.
To make my background, I used some inks, water, Silver Stickles and white acrylic paint on watercolour paper. To create the background I used a similar process to creating a galaxy background and added some of my own "touches".

After creating my very sparkly background I used a swirling star die to cut some of it out. Some white glitter paper was added behind the stars for some extra sparkle. It is really hard to get a good picture of all the sparkle on this card - it is very sparkly in person but creating the background was so fun. After stamping the sentiment, I cut it to size and added it to some matching card stock.
