Warm Wishes Snowman

I used to love making snowmen when I was a kid. I haven't done it for years, until last year when my old neighbour came by with her little ones to wait for the drive by Santa Claus parade to come to my street. The snow was perfect for snowman building - really wet ... but heavy! We had so much fun building a snowman and added twigs for it's arms and stones for his buttons. It felt great to be a kid again!

I think I get my love of snowmen from my Mom who has a collection of them that comes out every year. I have a collection too..........but it is in stamps <smile> and thankfully High Hopes Rubber Stamps has a ton to choose from and add to my wish list. I'm not sure I will be able to get them all but a gal can dream right?!? "Glowing Spirit Snowy" was one on my wish list and I am sharing a Christmas card I made with him.

After stamping my image on alcohol marker friendly paper I coloured it with Copic markers and cut it out using a circle die. I set him aside and played around with some patterned paper pieces from the Farmhouse Christmas collection by Carta Bella. Once I figured out my paper combo, I cut the pieces to fit the design I had in my head. I inked all of the white paper edges with antique linen distress ink to help them stand out a little more.
After stamping the sentiment I wanted to use I added it to some matching card stock. I die cut some branches from the Tim Holz's Festive Greens die set, added a cotton lace bow and finished the card off with some enamel dots.

Santa's New Ride!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a Christmas card using Flyin' High Santa - T093 by High Hopes Rubber Stamps for the main image and Here Comes Santa Claus - G272 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Santa's giving his reindeer a rest this year as he checks out his new ride. LOL!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I cut the background paper from Creative Memories - Glacier Paper Pack to be the same size and applied this directly to the base card using double-sided tape. I took a small scrap of Recollections - Black cardstock and ran it through my Xyron Create a Sticker so that it would become a sticker. With my Cuttlebug and Joy Crafts - Lin & Len Design 1201/0027, I die cut the silhouette out of the black paper and then peeled off the backing and placed it directly to the bottom of the card. Stampendous - Snowflakes - Chunky White was sprinkled over top of the card and melted from the bottom of the card using my Marvy Uchida - Embossing Heat Tool.

With my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped both the image and the sentiment onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I cut the sentiment in half using my cutter and ran it through the Xyron Create a Sticker. I placed the sticker on top of some Recollections - Black cardstock and cut it again using my small cutting tool. I coloured in the image with Copic markers and then I fussy cut around it. With a Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen, I coloured in the candy cane swirls on the airplane and small circles. Once it was dry, I used Gelly Roll Stardust - Clear to go over the big yellow gumdrop, the swirls on the propeller, the candy cane swirls, small circles on the plane and the star on the tree to add some glitter. For Santa's cuffs, coat trim and hat, I used Ranger - Emboss It Pen Clear and sprinkled on some WOW! Sparkling Snow Embossing Glitter. I heated this with my Marvy Uchida - Embossing Heat Tool and then repeated the process to give it more texture. For Santa's pop pom, I applied a little bit of Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff and then heat embossed it with my Marvy Uchida - Embossing Heat Tool.

The Santa image and sentiment were both popped up onto the background using 3M double-sided tape to complete the card.

Merry Christmas!

Hello!
Anytime is a good time to make Christmas cards, especially when I send so many out to friends and family. With the "Christmas Cheer" re-release over at High Hopes, I just couldn't resist this cutie called "Christmas Boy"! He's adorable, easy to colour and makes the sweetest Christmas card! I love his little toes sticking out! I paired him with the HH "Fun Merry Christmas" sentiment.
This card was fun and quick to make. I stamped my image and coloured it with my Copic Markers. Using my Brother Cut N Scan, I cut around the image leaving a small white border. My papers today are from the Polkadoodles "Ho Ho Ho Christmas" 6x6 collection. A simple layout but still perfect for this cutie. I added some Crystal Stickles to his hat and used a bit of Nuvo Drops in Gloss White to mimic the dots on the present paper.
Copics Used:
Skin: E00, E11, E13, R20, E27 (hair)
Reds: R35, R46, R59
Blues: B91, B93, B95
Greens: YG23, YG25, YG17

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to head on over to the High Hopes website and see all Lora's adorable stamps! You can find more inspiration from the Design Team by visiting the High Hopes Blog and Facebook page too!

Batty Boo

Howdy - and Boo!

This week for High Hopes Stamps I went for a simple but fun Halloween image. "Batty Boo" -

Can a bat be cute? This guy is - and I love those letters that make up "BOO" - I colored with my Copics (colors below) and really colored in that sky background. I have a hard time getting it "even" and not showing the coloring lines when doing some colors in such a large space. But I think it ended up ok.

For my card I started out with a black card stock base. Found some dark red and yellow cards stock to match up with my image and then a few patterns from Paper Studio. I sewed down the layers and added that Martha Stewart Dripping border punch. It was on my desk from my last card and well... it just feels right for a Halloween card! Then I pulled out Nuvo Yellow pearl and added some studs along the border. And to finish it off Ranger Stickles on the middle "o" - just needed a little sparkle.

This one kind of pops - the colors on all that black - I like that!

Up To Par

I admit it, I'm not good at golf. I have had a few unsuccessful visits to the driving range but I do okay at mini golf.....that counts right?!? The only golfing I do these days is make cards with a golf theme so when I got a request for a golf themed card I was happy to see what I could come up with.

I went through my stash of stamps and "Golfer Glen" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps was begging to be used.....especially since the recipient has a sense of humour. Finding a sentiment was the next challenge so I masked and stamped three different sentiments to create the one I wanted to use.

I started my stamping Glen and colouring him with Copic markers. Next I had hand fussy cut him and decided he needed some paper pieced plaid pants. I stamped his pants on plaid paper, fussy cut them and added them to the stamp.
I decided Glen needed to find himself in the rough .....I mean that's where my balls went when I tried golfing so why not?! I created my background with some grunge paper, added a few die cut clouds and some grass reeds I had in my stash and added Glen with foam pop dots.
To create the sentiment, I found three different stamps that were all the same font and masked and stamped the words I wanted from each stamp. This took more than one try to get it right and a whole lotta patience! I cut it with a fish tail banner and added it to the card along with some glitter dots to finish it off.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone;

For today's card, I have used an old favourite of High Hopes Stamps -  Sitting Santa, paired with Small Christmas Script.  Santa is taking a brief rest and still wrapping presents, or he has finished his deliveries and is taking a rest.  After all, Christmas is a very busy time for him.

After stamping the image, I coloured it with Copic Markers, and then cut it out using a Nested Oval Die from Spellbinders.  Some tri-coloured Christmas ribbon and enamel dots finished off this card.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:  Sitting Santa - S203, Small Christmas Script - F051 both from High Hopes Stamps
  • Ink:  Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper:  XPress It Blending Cardstock, DP - Jingle All the Way - Echo Park
  • Copic Markers:
    • Face:  E0000 - Floral White, E000 - Pale Fruit Pink, E00 - Cotton Pearl, R20 - Blush
    • Hair & Beard:  C00 - Cool Gray No. 00, C0 - C00l Gray No. 0, C1 - C00l Gray No. 1

Raccoon Birthday

My card this week features the Birch Trees from the Christmas Cheer release and Raccoon Gift from an earlier release. The raccoon was released as a Christmas stamp but I am adding to a Birthday card to add to my stash. I love when I can stretch my stamps and use them for a different occasions!

After stamping and colouring with Copic markers, I hand fussy cut the raccoon. I wasn't planning ahead when I coloured the birch trees and didn't colour my edges far enough so I hand cut them as well leaving a bit of a blue border. The birch trees - when coloured "properly" is the perfect size for a background for an A2 size card. Cut first then colour? Noted!

I used patterned papers I used are from Memory Box and MME and created my layers. Next I masked and stamped my sentiment from a larger sentiment and added it to matching card stock. I glued down the trees and added the raccoon with foam pop dots. The bow is actually quite sparkly in person as I used a silver Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle.
Some clear but perfectly colour matched glass dots and ribbon finish off my card.

Santa's Coming!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using Motorin' By Santa - T094 by High Hopes Rubber Stamps for the main image and Coming To Town - G271 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Santa's motoring through town to bring everyone some Christmas Cheer!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". I cut the background paper from Stampin' Up - Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper to be the same size as the base and inked around the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Salty Ocean. I applied this directly to the base card using double-sided tape. AC - Black cardstock was cut to 5.5" x .75" and adhered to the bottom using double-sided tape. I die cut the village using my Cutttlebug, Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock and Village Edges dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I coloured in the homes and put some yellow cardstock behind for the windows. Then I took the little doors, coloured them in and inset them back into the die cuts. Once this was done, I added Gina K Designs - Glitz Glitter Gel - Iridescent to the hills and Stickles - Diamond to the roof tops.

With my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped both the image and the sentiment onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I coloured in the image with Copic markers and then I fussy cut around it. I added Stickles - Xmas Red to the Holly on the motorbike and Stickles - Diamond to the pop pom on Santa's hat. Using my Cuttlebug, I die cut the sentiment using Whimsy Stamps - Quick Strips Die Set. I ran this through my Xyron Create a Sticker and placed it on some red cardstock. Then using my cutter, I cut around it leaving a slim border.

Once everything was dry, it was time to assemble the remainder of the card. I applied the houses directly to the base over top of the road. The Santa image and sentiment were both popped up onto the background using 3M double-sided tape.

Winter Wonderland!

Hi!
It's Tuesday again and it's my turn to post over on the High Hopes Blog! As I sit here writing this post, I realize that this stamp called "Winter Ride" reminds me of a good friend! I should have coloured the horse brown and then it would have been perfect for her!
After stamping my image onto Copic friendly paper, I coloured the image in to match papers from the Simple Stories "Jingle All the Way" collection. Then using a Gina Marie Double Roped Circle die, I cut out the image with my Big Shot. I added some Stampendous Spoonful of Snow below the image to make it look like they are out on a winter ride! I decided to use the HH sentiment called "Winter Wonderland" on my card today. The image is popped up with foam squares for added dimension. Some ribbon, a bow, poinsettia button and snowflake die finish off my card.
Copics Used:

Angel Bear Witch

Howdy - MichelleO here today - With the anticipation of cooler weather, thinking again this week of the fall holidays - So I pulled out a sweet Halloween image "Angel Bear Witch" - sweet!

I colored with my Copics (colors below) and added LOTS of sparkle on those wings with Ranger Stickles. Wings just have to sparkle right? I then dug deep into my stash of papers and found a Gorguss paper pad that had the feel for a great Halloween card - Love the tree and stars on the background paper. I layered and sewed down all the layers. Oh... and added a border with Martha Stewart Drip punch .. just seems spooky.. LOL For my sentiment I used High Hopes Stamps "Trick or Treat Script" - perfect for my Bear and the jack-0-lantern bucket! To finish of my card I added three enamel dots. Loved coloring this sweet guy! I used a lot of colors... he he

Hot Cocoa & Snowfolk Warm My Heart...

Hi Everyone;

Before we know it, winter will be here along with all the fun it brings.  There is no better way, then to have hot chocolate or cocoa when one has been outside in the snow and being creative in bulding snowmen and other snowfolks.

For today's card, I used Snow Yummy and paired it with the Dot Warm Heart sentiment.  I'm not sure if he realizes that he will melt from the warmth of the hot chocolate or cocoa...

The image was coloured with Copic Markers, and I went out of my comfort zone with the blues.  I general use more of the blue greens instead of  the deeper shade blues.  The image was then cut out with a Double Stitched Square die, which was mounted on some mulberry paper and distressed a bit with water, and then mounted on the design paper.  The 2nd piece of cardstock is actually a piece of silver foil.

Now,  I did use the wrong colour twine -- it was supposed to be blue.  As I didn't feel that I could remove it easily without damaging it, I decided to leave it as is.  I used scor pal tape to stick down the layers -- the result of doing something  at night... if anybody has any ideas on how to fix something like this please let me know.

Anyway, the snowflakes and glacier crystal jewels finished off this card.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:  Snow Yummy - S182, Dot Warm Heart - G117 -- both from High Hopes Stamps
  • Paper:  Xpress It blending Cardstock, DP: Hello Winter - Echo Park, Blue Mulberry Paper
  • Copic Markers:
    • C00 - Cool Gray No. 00, C0 - Cool Gray No. 0, C1 - Cool Gray No. 1
    • YR07 - Cadmium Orange, YR04 - Chrome Orange
    • N9 - Neutral Gray No. 9, N8 - Neutral Gray No. 8
    • R00 - Pinkish Vanilla, R20 - Blush
    • E30 - Bisque, E31 - Brick Beige, E33 - Sand
    • B32 - Pale Blue, B34 - Manganese Blue
  • Die:  Double Stitched Square - Gina Marie Designs
  • Miscellaneous:  Twine, assortment of snowflakes, glacier crystal jewels

Ho Ho Ho

Christmas always has a way of sneaking up on my and I am often making cards on Christmas Eve so I am glad to working on Christmas cards and adding to my stash.

Apparently Santa's sleigh is in the shop and the reindeer are getting a day off while it gets fixed so Santa has hopped in his plane to spread some Christmas cheer! I am glad he has a back up plan just in case his sleigh isn't fixed on time!

I stamped my stamps on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured them with Copic markers. Twinkle and Star Dust Stickles were added to Santa's suit and the flourishes on the plane and wings (hard to see on the photo). I set them aside to dry and once dry, I hand fussy cut the stamp. The sentiment was cut out with a fish tail banner die and I bent it a little to create a "wave" so it looks like it is blowing in wind. The background papers are both from older Bo Bunny pads and perfect for this scene.
I added a row of die cut houses along the bottom of the "sky" and added some "snow" to the roofs with white ink. After adding some foam dots to the stamps I added them to my card. Some die cut snow flakes and glitter dots finish off my card.

Hot Cocoa and Snowfolk!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using Snowman Cup Of Love - S149 by High Hopes Rubber Stamps for the main image and Dot Warm Heart - G117 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Hot chocolate is one of my favourite drinks during cold winter days. It looks like it is for this snowman too!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of AC Cardstock - White cut and scored to be 6" x 6". I cut the background paper from Hot Buy - Recollections - Jewel Tones cardstock to the same size as the base and used double-side tape to apply it directly to it. Pebbles - Winter Wonderland paper was cut to the size of 5.75" x 5.75" and inked around the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Mermaid Lagoon. I applied this directly to the main background using double-sided tape. I cut 2 more strips from the Hot Buy - Recollections - Jewel Tones paper at 6" x 1.5" and 6" x .75" and applied them midway across the card using double-sided tape.

The image and sentiment were stamped using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black ink. I die-cut the sentiment using my Cuttlebug and Hero Arts - Infinity Dies - Rounded Rectangle and inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Mermaid Lagoon. This was popped up on the card using 3M double-sided tape. The image was die cut with Creative Expression Craft Dies by Sue Wilson - Noble Dies - Double Pierced Ovals and inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Mermaid Lagoon. I coloured in the image in with Copic markers and popped it up on the card using 3M double-sided tape. Lastly, I added some Clear Glitter Glue to the bottom of the snowman to create some snow. You can't see it in this picture, but I also added Wink of Stella - Clear to make the snowman sparkle too!

No Peeking!

Howdy Folks!
I'm popping in today to share another Christmas card using "Teddy's Gift" from the "Christmas Cheer" re-release over at High Hopes Stamps! This little guy is just too cute for words! It looks to me like he's trying to shake the present to get a hint of what's inside LOL! I thought the sentiment called "Peeking, Poking, Shaking" was perfect to use with this image!
I decided to use papers today from the Echo Park "Here Comes Santa" 6x6 collection. After stamping my image and colouring it with my Copics, I decided to use the SSS Holiday Frame die to cut him out with. It makes it look like a polaroid picture don't you think?! I struggled trying to colour his fur. I tried various different techniques and finally settled on the Copic 0 and a terry cloth technique to achieve a fur texture. A bit of Crystal stickles on the pom pom finishes off my design.
Copics Used:

Christmas Girl

Howdy - MichelleO here today - Have you been over and seen the re-release at High Hopes Stamps, "Christmas Cheer"  yet? OH my such sweet cute images for your Christmas  projects - This week I pulled out Christmas Girl - she has such adorable cheeks!

So cute! Right?? I colored with my Copics (colors below) and then added dots of Nuvo white on those cheeks. Then she is cut out with a circle die cut - I found some fun glitter papers from Paper Studio with Christmas candy canes - I like the combo of colors - different but fun! I layered them up and added a mat circle die cut of the same papers. For a border I added Fiskars Scalloped border punch. Everything is sewn down. And then placed on a white card stock base.

For a sentiment I used High Hopes Stamps - Magic of Christmas - one of my favorite Christmas sentiments! Punched out with an EK Success punch then colored around the edge with a Copic to create a faux mat around it. Four green enamel dots on the corners to finish off.

CUTE CUTE CUTE!

Copic colors used -

You need to pop over to the High Hopes Stamps Web Store HERE and see all the Christmas Release ... and while you are there see all the FABULOUS images at High Hopes Stamps. ADORE!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Hi Everyone;

Now that school has started, the next special day will be Halloween.  Hopefully, if all goes well, the children will be able to go Trick or Treating this year.  For today's card, I used the cute and adorable Boo Family in a Frame, both stamps are from High Hopes Stamps.

After stamping the image onto XPress It Blending Cardstock, I then coloured the image with Copic Markers.  It was then cut out around the border, and mounted on to some black cardstock.  Some twine and enamel dots finished off this CAS card.
