Hugs & Kisses

I don't usually make Valentine's Day cards but when I saw the Cow Hugs stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps I decided to make one. I will stamp Happy Valentine's Day inside but I might also use it to send to a friend who needs a hug.... this is such a versatile stamp!

After colouring the stamp with Copic markers, I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I set it aside and found some paper from and old Echo Park pad that fit the colour palette perfectly. I cut the pieces to fit my A2 size card base. I cut a circle out of patterned paper and cut off the edge just to create some interest. Next I cut the fishtail heart banner out of matching paper and card stock, cut some smaller hearts out of a different banner to put in the middle of the hearts and glued them to the base. Then I glued down the circle and added the stamp with foam pop dots. I stamped the sentiment, mounted it on matching card stock and added some enamel dots to finish off my card.

Frog in Boxers

Howdy - MichelleO here today -

This is one of the very first images I purchased from High Hopes Stamps - YEARS and YEARS ago! I just love the look on this little frog. Frog in Boxers -

A top favorite of mine! Colored with my Copics - and found papers from scraps in my stash, and then sewed down layers. Now I wanted a solid green for one of the mats... didn't have the right green. So I used a Copic and colored a mat! Not bad... will have to remember that for future. The sentiment is a great one for a little pick me up for someone, and works with this guy hanging in his boxers. "Hang in there!"  just so fun! It needed a little more - so I punched up some leaves punches from Martha Stewart and colored them to match. This one really made me smile!

Eat Cake!

I had a few friends growing up that when the going got tough, we would get together and eat our ultimate comfort food.......cake! I am still friends with a few of these amazing ladies although we don't live close enough to each other to do an impromptu cake get together like we used to. However, when we are able to get together ...you know there will be cake! Baking gnome from High Hopes Rubber Stamps reminds me of these days and friends so I decided to use him for a card for one of them.

I coloured with Copic markers and cut the stamp out using a square xstitch die. I found some patterned paper from Memory Box and cut it to fit my A2 size card base. To create the wave, I cut the paper with a hill die and then trimmed the straight edge off to the size I wanted after laying it beside the larger piece. I used an embossing folder the add some texture to both of these pieces before gluing them down. I cut a banner to go behind the image, stamped the sentiment and cut it out with an oval die. All of the paper and stamped image are inked around the edges with London Fog ink. After gluing the banner down, I cut the stamp square with the stamped image to fit the edge of the card and glued the sentiment down over one corner. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Carpenter Ant

Howdy - MichelleO here today and I needed another guy birthday card for this week - and I love this Carpenter Ant for some of my Man friends!

Such a busy worker - what is he building?  Colored with my Copics - and then found papers from Making Memories that I sewed down with a zig zag stitch and straight stitch. I colored him bold, I wanted him to pop on the card. The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps perfect for our little builder - "Happy Birthday" Love the lumber look on this one! Great for my little ant!

Hummingbird Birthday

My Mother in law has a Birthday coming up in a few weeks and she always loves a handmade card from me ...shhhhhh. She loves flowers and birds so I try to find a flower stamp I can use for her Birthday card. This year I think the Hummingbird stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is perfect for her card. I kept the design quite simple and flat because I will need to mail it to her this year.

After stamping and colouring with Copic markers, I cut the stamp out with a square pleated lace die. Patterned paper was perfect for the background so I cut the pieces to fit the 5"x 5" card base and design. Next, I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with a fishtail banner die, added some matching card stock, put it on the corner of the card and glued everything down. Glitter dots in the corners and the sentiment finish off the card.

Create

Happy New Year! I am back after a bit of a break over Christmas and happy to be back in my craft room creating! I hope you all had a good Christmas - I know we did <smile>. For my first card of 2024 I decided to start the year with a smile  and have some fun with "Happy Pigs" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps - how can you not just smile along with these two!?!

After colouring these cuties with Copic markers, I cut them out with a stitched tag die and set them aside. I chose paper from My Favorite Things and Carta Bella to create the background design and rounded the corners of the polka dot paper with my corner rounder. I cut an envelope edge die and added some small scallops to the top and bottom the tag for added interest.
I inked the edges of all the paper and tag with Vintage Photo Distress ink and set them aside.
To create the sentiment I masked off the words I wanted (it is a larger sentiment) and first stamped the word create and after drawing a light pencil line under it I masked off the bottom line and stamped it. This often takes two, three or more tries but this time it worked the first time! After gluing down the paper layers, I added the tag - after putting some lace through the hole, added some flowers with enamel dots in the centre and added enamel dots to the four corners to finish off my card.
