Just A Note!

Happy Tuesday!
I can always use cards in my stash that let me touch base with friends and family to let them know I care or am thinking about them. This adorable little fellow called "Writing Mouse" from High Hopes Stamps grabbed my heart! I thought the HH sentiment called "Just A Note" was perfect to go along with this cutie!
To start my card I stamped the image onto Copic Friendly paper and then coloured it in to match papers from MFT's "Cool Collab" 6x6 collection. Next I stamped the sentiment just above the mouse. I cut the image with the sentiment out using a Gina Marie "Venetian Label" die. I also cut a few more of the Venetian dies in different sizes to place behind my image. I found these enamel triangular stickers and thought they were a fun change. A sprinkling of matching enamel dots and some twine finished off my card.

Be A Donkey

Howdy - MichelleO here today -

If you can't love on a real donkey then next best thing is coloring and making a card with a Donkey image! Right?  For today's High Hopes Stamps card I pulled out the fabulous "Be a Donkey" image!

I started to color this sweet little donkey grey... but I had just come in from loving on one of my pregnant donkeys, Lacey, and she is a beautiful red brown color. So I thought in honor of the Momma to be I would do this one like her! I colored with my Copics (colors below) and then set off to find some pattern papers to use. I normally do this step first off, but I was excited to color the donkey and totally forgot to pick papers first. Ha. But in my digging on my shelf I found a small paper pad from Carta Bella "Giddy Up" collection. I haven't seen it in a long time, and have always loved the cowgirl country feel. Pink Brown and Turquoise Paisleys - so perfect. I layered the papers up and sewed them all together with both straight and zig zag stitching.

For my sentiment I went with High Hopes "Happy Birthday Script" it is always a favorite sentiment to use and I LOVE sending donkey birthday cards! I matted the sentiment with a piece of paper punched with an EK Success punch, then dotted the scallops with some white Nuvo paper paint. Now they are a little hard to see in the photo, but I had found some old rhinestone hearts the other day, and I knew this was the card I wanted to use them on. Hearts, Donkeys, Pink and Brown Country... OH MY!

Copic colors used -

I was tired and well... a bit cranky when I started coloring my card. And after done felt happy and ready to color more donkeys! To find this image and SO MANY more wonderful images make sure to pop over to the High Hopes Stamps web store HERE and fall in love!

Nothing Begins

I am a coffee lover and for me there is nothing like that first cup of coffee of the day. It is the best tasting coffee of the day for some reason and I have heard my tea drinking friends say the same thing. There is something to be said for the few minutes of quiet time I try to get in the morning, where my brain hasn't gone in to over drive and the to do list for the day is still blank in my head.

"Sleepy Bear" reminds me of me in the morning....eyes half open and on auto pilot <giggle> although I don't sleep in a night cap! In my world....nothing - including the to do list for the day - begins before coffee.

I stamped my Sleepy Bear on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him with my cuticle scissors and an exacto knife. After running a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed, I set him aside and went about finding some patterned paper to go with him. Paper from the Sky Mini Collection from 49 & Market was perfect to go with him. The paper that he is on looks like a plain "list" and fits perfectly with my card theme.

I cut the paper to fit the A2 size base, inked all the edges with Umber Versa Mark ink and glued the layers down. Before I glued down the main layer he is on I added the die cut word Today to the top......I wanted the blank space around him to look like an empty list. The sentiment was stamped directly on to this piece of patterned paper.  Some enamel dots finish off my card.

A Little Behind!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made belated birthday card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Henriettas Backside - Q035 for the image and Sorry I'm - FLL031 for the sentiment. Like Henrietta, I get so busy sometimes, that I forget to send out my birthday cards on time.  This little chickie has now given me an excuse for being late. LOL!

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of AC Cardstock - White cut and scored to be 6" x 6". I cut Echo Park Paper Co. - It's Your Birthday - 6" x 6" paper to be the same size as the base and adhered it with double-sided tape. Using my Cuttlebug, I die cut some golden yellow cardstock using My Creative Time -Stitched Squares Inside and Out. I added U-Line double-sided tape to the square and popped it up onto the centre of the card. Using my Cuttlebug again, I die cut Forever In Time - Texture Rouge cardstock with Waffle Flower - Nesting Square dies. I added some U-Line double-sided tape and popped this up into the centre of the last square. Lastly, using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine, I die cut the patterned paper using My Creative Time -Stitched Squares Inside and Out. Once again, I added U-Line double-sided tape and popped up the square into the centre of the previous one.

The image and sentiment were both stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and the image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I fussy cut around the image and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station to create a sticker. I attached this to Scrapbook.com - Playful Smooth Cardstock and then fussy cut around again leaving a small border. Using my Copic markers E25 ad E23, I added some colour under the feet. With my Empress machine again and Poppystamps - Christmas Quotes die, I die cut the sentiment. Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Wild Honey was used to ink around the edges. I added some U-Line double-sided tape to the back of the image and sentiment and popped them up onto the Jean patterned paper to complete the card.

Card Recipe:

Hmmmmm!

Hi!
Hmmmm.......so that's where the goldfish went LOL. This image from High Hopes Stamps just makes me giggle! Meet "Cat-ching Some Rays", who looks like he was up to no good! Love the mouse laughing at him! I thought the sentiment "Won't Hurt" was perfect for this mischievous cat!
I stamped my image on to Copic friendly paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using my Copic markers, I coloured the image in and then cut it out with this fancy square die. I am using paper from the Echo Park "I Love My Cat" 6x6 designer collection. I inked all the edges of the papers with Distress Ink in Gathered Twigs and then popped the die cut image up with foam tape for added dimension. A bit of twine with a paw print wooden embellishment finishes off my card today.

Nurse Kitty

Howdy - MichelleO here and this week I went looking for images at High Hopes Stamps that I fell in love with but haven't colored up yet... and Nurse Kitty was one I just adore and it needed to be colored and put on a card.

She is such a pretty little kitty! I colored her in this yellow orange color.. after I found my papers I wished I had colored her grey. But still like the bright happy color. Colored with my Copics (colors below) I then used the pattern papers from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection.  I sewed all the layers together with a zig zag stitch. Now I haven't found my machine part that the kittens stole. I tried to sew with it anyway... it sort of worked.. I have to find that part! Silly kitties! Bad kitties! The sentiment is wonderful I love the mix of fonts. "Wishing you a speedy recovery" is wonderful.  I pulled out some buttons to use as embellishments... then I found some enamel dots that the colors matched up really well. And its been a while since my dots where used. Love them!

Copic colors used -

Fun get well card! There are so many wonderful image at High Hopes Stamps... They are my favorite to color up and play with! Pop over to the store HERE and see all the joy!

Lenny Love

I am in love with Lenny! We have a history Lenny and I and he is still one of my favourite High Hopes stamps.  I don't remember for sure how I found High Hopes, but I think it may have been at a local craft show back in 2012/13. At that time, they held challenges and as I started my journey in to card making, I started playing along with them.

At some point, I won a challenge and got to pick a stamp as my prize. That was a challenge given there were a TON to choose from - I mean how do you pick just one?! But I narrowed down my list and chose "Lenny's Love Me Nots". He and his bird friend make me smile and I knew that I could use him for a lot of different card themes and bring a smile to someone else.

In 2015 I was asked to guest design for High Hopes and guess what stamp I used?? You guessed it! Lenny was the star of one of my card and is actually the first sample card on the website. Now I look at that card and think of the 100 ways I would redo it but ..... it is part of my "history" with Lenny so I think I will leave it alone <wink>. Without further ado, meet Lenny!

After stamping and colouring Lenny with Copic markers, I cut him out using a pleated circle die. I tried him with a few different patterned paper colours but the greens really made him pop so green it is. I chose patterned paper from three different lines - Photo Play, Lawn Fawn and MFT and cut them to fit my design and 5.5" x 5.5" card base. I added some ribbon, flowers from my stash and a die cut leaf sprig for embellishments and finished off my card with some enamel dots.

Coffee!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Drive Thru - TLF026 for the image and Nothing Begins - FLL021 for the sentiment. I don't drink coffee, but I know a lot of people who can't start the day without one! Are you a coffee drinker or a tea drinker like me?

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". To create my background, I started with Creative Memories - Hot Fudge paper cut to the same size as the base card. I adhered this directly to the base. From the same paper, I also made several more cuts. 5.5" x 2-5/8", 5.5" x 1-1/16th" and using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers, I die cut a rectangle the size of 4.75" x 3.5". With multiple papers from Your Next Stamp - The Perfect Blend, I cut them to the sizes of 5.5" x 4-1/8", 5.5" x 2.5" and 5.5" x 7/8". I inked around all of the edges of the patterned papers with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Ground Espresso.

Using double-sided tape, I layered the papers and centered them onto the card in the following order. Coffee beans, Fudge cardstock, coffee stains, Fudge cardstock and lastly the coffee cups. Once again, I inked around all of the outside edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Ground Espresso ink. I added U-Line double-sided tape to the large Fudge cardstock rectangle with an additional smaller layer on the top and bottom and popped it up in the centre of the card.

Using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine and My Creative Time - Rectangle Frame Layers once again, I die cut a rectangle out of Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card to the size of 4.25" x 3". The image and sentiment were both stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and the image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I added in a lot of extra bricks to the image to create a solid brick wall. Using my Empress machine again and My Creative Time - Little Gift Tags, I die cut the sentiment. Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Ground Espresso was used to ink around the edges. I added some U-Line double-sided tape to the back of it and popped it up onto the coloured image. Lastly to finish off the card, I added a little pop dot from Gina Marie Designs.

Picket Fence!

Hi!
I think everyone dreams of having a house with a white picket fence when they are young, I know I did. I never had a white picket fence but I still had the house filled with love. I mean who wants to have to paint that fence anyway LOL (jk). This image is called "Garden Gate Background" and the sentiment matches perfectly called "Picket Fence Saying", both from High Hopes Stamps.
To start my design today, I stamped my image onto Copic Friendly paper using my MISTI. Next I coloured the image using my Copic Sketch Markers. I don't know what possessed me, but I fussy cut out most parts of the image. Whew, that took a bit of time. Using Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass and a MFT cloud stencil, I created a sky background on a separate piece of paper and then glued it to the Designer Paper. I put foam tape on the back of the Garden Gate Background and popped it  up on the clouds. Some Crystal Stickles on the flowers and parts of the birdhouses to finish off my card.

Birthday Buzzard

Howdy -

I always need that special birthday card for that someone that needs a giggle to their card. And nothing fits better than Birthday Buzzard from High Hopes Stamps!

This guy just cracks me up and is perfect!

This sweet Birthday Buzzard is colored with my Copics (colors below) and then went on a hunt for some papers. I wanted something more guy like possibly. I found some fun vintage feeling papers from SEI - love the colors. They have 70's feel almost to me. I layered them and went to do my normal sewing... UH OH... One of the kittens decided to run off with a part to my sewing machine. A much needed to work part. I scanned for it didn't find it. Guess I will be totally moving everything from on my desk and under my desk this week to find it. sighhh ok back to my card. Since I couldn't do any sewing which is really making me twitch a bit... I found a grass punch and decided to play with that. I stacked up my papers and card stock and then found a High Hopes Stamps sentiment. "Birthday Wishes" - cut it out and then matted it with an EK Success ticket punch.

Copic colors used -

Love this image! Makes me grin. Now the no sewing that is really causing me some stress. But I will have to deal with it... at least until I find that little part! LOL

Now you just must pop on over to the High Hopes Stamps web site and fall in love lots of fun fun fun images! You can get there by clicking HERE

Good Morning Sunshine!

I love the mornings I see the sunrise, they make me happy and some of them I look at and try to figure out what Copic colours I would use to colour them ...would that be considered distracted driving? <smile>

I live in a small rural town so my drive to work every day is on country roads. I am also up very early and in the spring primarily, I am blessed to catch the sunrise. They just seem more stunning in the spring .... maybe that is because the winter is always long, dreary and dark where I live.

It is catching the sunrise on my drive and seeing the sun come up behind the barns I pass that inspired my card using "Barn" and "Hello Sunshine" sentiment from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. Good Morning Sunshine

After stamping on Copic marker friendly paper, I hand fussy cut the barn leaving a thin white edge. I set it aside and created my sun ray background using a stencil and some ink on watercolor paper. I find inks blend better and I can add more layers of ink on watercolor paper then card stock so that is what I use for ink and ink blending. After inking the background I cut it to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base.

I wanted the stamp to be the centre of attention so I went with a grey gingham background for my other patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment, cut it out with a circle die and added it above the sun rays ...it kind of looks like the sun coming up <wink>. Twine and enamel dots finish off my card.

Card Recipe

Stamp: Barn (TLF039) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". Doodle Bug Designs Inc. - Down on the Farm cardstock background paper was cut to the size of 5.5" x 4.25" and adhered directly to the base using double-sided tape. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Black Soot and a finger dauber were used to ink around all of the edgs of the card. Using my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine and dies from Whimsy Stamps - Wavy Nested Frame Dies Set, I die cut one pattern out of Recollections - Black cardstock and a smaller cut from Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. Using PinkFresh Studio - Slim Stripes dies and my Anna Griffin Empress Mini Machine, I die cut some black stripes using the half-inch die from Recollections - Black cardstock. I added some U-Line double-sided tape to the backs of the 2 black pieces and popped them up onto the patterned background. Using scisssors, I cut off the excess from the black stripe after it was adhered to the base.

I stamped the main image and sentiment onto the Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento - Tuxedo Black. The image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I used a Sakura Glaze - Black pen, and Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen to create the eyes. After the image was coloured in, I added some U-Line double-sided tape to it and popped it up onto the black die cut. Using my machine again, I die cut the sentiment using Gina K Designs - Sentiment Strips. This was popped up with Scrapbook Adhesives - Black 3D Foam Strips onto the black stripe. To finish off my card, I added 2 little button cows on either side of the sentiment from Dress It Up - In the Barnyard and Dress It Up - Mooove It.

Happy Thoughts!

Hello!
"Dancing Ellie" from High Hopes Stamps reminds me of my daughter when she was about 4 years old. She wanted to take Ballet lessons, so we enrolled her in the local dance school. OMGeeeeee it was too cute. All the little dancers in their black bodysuits with pink tutu's trying to be ballerina's. They tried so hard to be light on their feet, but it was more like a herd of elephants twirling and jumping around. Not dainty and quiet that's for sure LOL. I wonder if "Dancing Ellie" is light on her feet but I think she's probably more like those little ballerina's LOL.
To start my card, I stamped Ellie onto some Copic friendly paper using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used my Copic Sketch markers to colour in the image. I used papers form the Lawn Fawn's "Spring Fling" and Echo Park's "Mermaid Dreams" 6x6 collections. I inked all the edges of my papers with Distress Oxide ink in "Picked Raspberry". The sentiment is also from High Hopes and is called "Happy Thoughts". To finish my card I added some Crystal Stickles and a flower "Spray".
Copics Used:

Frog in Boxers

Howdy - MichelleO here today -  If you need an image to bring a smile to someone this is it! How can you not love High Hopes Stamps "Frog in Boxers"  and with the High Hopes Stamps sentiment "Hang in There!" it is just perfect to bring a smile!

I colored with my copics (colors below) and then shaded with a few pencils. I cut out the image with a Circle die cut, cutting out the toes of the frog first and making sure they pop off the circle.

Now I have to tell you about the pattern papers... LOL Months ago I was picking up a mess of paper pads the kittens had knocked off the shelf. While picking them up I glanced at this clothes line pattern paper. Thought it was cute and then put everything back on the shelf. When I chose this image to color up .. I remembered paper. Thought I knew right where it was... an hour later I finally found it! It was perfect for this image right?? From Cosmo Cricket the boyfriend collection I decided to use a few papers from the pad. Layered them up and sewed them together with straight and zig zag stitches. Placed the image front and center and then created a tag with an EK Success punch to use with the fabulous Hang in there!

Copic colors used -

I love making cards that make me smile, I figure it will do the same for the person receiving it. For SO many image to bring a smile, pop over to the High Hopes Stamps Web Store HERE and fall in love with LOTS!

Thanks!

Just Hoppin' By

Spring has sprung and my back yard and neighbourhood are brimming with rabbits. I am only seeing adults at this point but I know in a few weeks there will be rare sightings of the little ones. The adults are eating the new plant growth in my flower bed but they do it every year and every year I still have flowers and plants so I don't get too upset with them.

It's spring and the rabbits that inspired my card this week. I challenged myself to use a stamp for a different theme then what it was made for. "Easter Gnome" is perfect for Easter cards but I think he is also perfect for a just because, checking in, thinking of you type card.

Birthday Hi!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Just Cruisin' - SLF022 for the image and Just Motorin' By - G309 for the sentiment. The gnomes are out again and this time their motoring by with a birthday "Hi!" for you.

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill - Premium Colour 100 lb. cut and scored to be 5.5" x 4.25". To create my background sky, I cut the Echo Parks Paper Co. - Birthday Wishes cardstock to the size of 5.5" x 1.75". With Lawn Fawn - Watercolor Wishes Rainbow - 6" x 6", I made 3 cuts. 5.5" x .75", 5.5" x 1.25" and with my Cuttlebug and Card Deco Essentials - Slimline Landscape Borders die, the tree landscape. I ran all of the pieces through my Xyron Creative Station and Xyron Create a Sticker. Using my Cuttlebug again and Recollections - Black cardstock, I die cut the road using My Favourite Things - Die-Namics - Open Road die.

The image and sentiment were both stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and the image was coloured in with Copic Markers. I fussy cut around the image and the sentiment and then added U-Line double-sided tape to pop them up onto the card later.

The card was now ready for assembly, starting at the bottom of the card, I applied the first piece of grass. I measured the distance of the road and then applied the second piece of green slightly lower than where the road would end. The sky piece was added next and then the tree scape. I used my E25 marker to make the tree trunks brown. I applied double-sided tape to the road piece and adhered it to the base. I popped up the image and the sentiment onto the background. Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tumbled Glass and a dauber were used to ink around the edges of the sky to complete the card.
