Dad's Catch

Howdy - MichelleO here today - I am always on the look out for fun guy fishing images. They are just too perfect for the men in my life. I love this image from High Hopes Stamps- Dad's Catch

I think it is the goofy grin and pride with that tiny little fish. ha! Colored with my Copics (colors below) I went with colors to match up with the My Minds Eye Kraft Card stock "Life Stories" papers. Everything is layered together and then stitched with a zig zag and straight stitch. Was at first concerned about how the white thread was bright and popped off the kraft card stock, but then decided to go with it! And add some Nuvo white paint pen dots!

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps - "World's Greatest Fisherman" great image for me to give this card to Hubby :0)

Now I thought the card was finished... but that fishy and water was just screaming for some sparkle to make them look wet - love sparkle!

Dads Catch

Howdy - MichelleO here today for High Hopes Stamps. If you need a "guy" card for that special man in your life this one is a cutie! Especially if your guy likes to fish! This image from High Hopes Stamps is called "Dads Catch" and he just makes me grin. So proud with his little fish!

I colored him with my Copics, cut him out with a circle Spellbinders Nestie and then added Nuvo Glitter to the water and the fish. Guy card or not they needed to sparkle! I found some papers from My Mind's Eye Paris & Co. Collection. Liked the dots and colors with my fisherman. I sewed down the layers with a large zig zag stitch and straight stitch for the band across the bottom.

The sentiment is also from High Hopes "World's Greatest Fisherman" .... so perfect!! Love how this one turned out. Manly and cute!

Birthday Fishes

I have a lot of men and young men in my life who love fishing. I did some as a kid but it wasn't anything that really stuck with me, although I did love being outside by water. I find it really interesting that a day of fishing always seems to include a story about the big one that got away and it always makes me chuckle.

"Dad's Catch and Cattails" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps are perfect for a birthday card for one of the fishermen in my life. It gave me a chance to not only practice my masculine cards but is also fun for a little bit of tongue in cheek humor. I combined two sentiments (links below) to create this one which I think is perfect for this birthday card.

I stamped and coloured the stamps with Copic markers and hand fussy cut "Dad's Catch" leaving a think white edge. I set him aside and coloured the cattails and added a sunburst background using a stencil and ink. I added a light blue ink to the bottom edge for a water line. Patterned paper from the Gone Camping collection from Carta Bella had the perfect fishing themed paper for this card. I cut it to fit my 5"x 5" base and layered it with card stock.

Next I cleared my desk and pulled out my sticky notes, ink, Misti and the sentiments I wanted to use. I love when I can stretch my supplies and making one sentiment out of two different ones is a great way to do that! I also had to find some patience! because it took me about 6 tries and walking away numerous times to get the sentiment stamped how I wanted it. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I added some twine to the bottom of the card and I didn't have a fish embellishment like I pictured in my head so I cut it out of another piece of paper from the same collection and popped it up with 3D foam pop dots.......the big one that got away <wink>. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Tuesday HH Fans!

Father's Day is right around the corner so I thought it was fitting to make a card using "Dad's Catch" I just love that little grin on his face!

I am using papers from the Echo Park's Happy Camper 6x6 collection! I added some twine and a wooden embellishment that my good friend gave me! It's always a "great day" when you catch a fish LOL! I also inked all the edges of the papers and my cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. A few enamel dots finish it all off!
